Thanks. It sounds like Ponder with his inability to handle pressure, but he's got the strong arm and the willingness to stay in the pocket unlike Ponder.

just read it too, the inability to handle pressure is really worrisome although he's a big guy and i guess he can scramble around if needed

i'm worried about phrases like "enough velocity" and "enough accuracy", after ponder i'd want a guy that has descriptions like "rocket arm" and "pin-point accuracy"

and how worried should we be that his brother didn't do much in the nfl

From other places I've read that Carr's arm strength is closer Cutler's than Ponder's. Based on all the things I've read, I don't think Ponder is a very good comparison. His brother was also known for his inability to handle pressure so that does worry me.

That would thrill me, but I don't see him lasting until #8.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

I'm starting to like the idea of grabbing all defensive players and maybe one guard in the early rounds and then getting a qb in the late rounds. McCarron, Murray, and Brett Smith are interesting prospects. Doesn't make sense to grab a qb in the first if we don't love him.

We have too many holes to fill on both sides of the ball. Reaching for a QB would be the exact move they made drafting Ponder.

I'm more willing to reach for a QB if there's not a top pass rusher or corner available. Khalil Mack and Anthony Barr seem to be the only players that could fit that description.

Just putting this out there...Sammy Watkins would be great addition to our offense. I know it won't happen but it's a worst case scenario option.

I'm not totally against that. With the way the NFL is moving, you've got to prioritize your passing attack. If we can't find a franchise QB, then it might work to build up our wide receivers. In '98 and '99 we really didn't have a franchise QB, we a had a WR receiving core so good that it made any QB look great.

i've thought about that too, watkins would be good especially if there is no one else there we want (i don't think i'd prioritize him over one of the top 4 qbs), but we do kind of have a decent wr core as it stands - would simpson be the odd man out?

should we just make this the overall draft thread or get a separate one going?

don't know if we've talked a lot about him or not but what are your guys' thoughts on aaron murray?

he'd be available later so we can focus on defense early, and he's a really smart guy - maybe not the highest potential but he seems really solid

Cant say I know anything about him. Seems like the Vikings are wanting to take a quarterback in the first few rounds, I see that he's projected to be a mid to late pick.
