leslie frazier fired/coaching search (ZIMMER!)

Post#1 » by hermes » Mon Dec 30, 2013 2:54 pm

so its official, kind of new it was coming but the team made it a little interesting at the end with the improved play and the support from the players

went 21-32-1 as vikings coach, in over 3 seasons

will be interesting to see how the players react because they all really liked him

any candidates out there you guys like?

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/10214 ... head-coach
according to this, jack del rio and adam gase (defensive and offensive coordinators of denver respectively) are on our radar

It's probably the right decision, although I'm not necessarily happy to see Frazier go. I don't personally have any favorites yet as a replacement.

sounds like we're initially looking at both the offensive and defensive coordinators of seattle, denver and maybe the cardinals defensive coordinator

Del Rio's track record before joining Denver isn't impressive. This team needs a proven HC.

Bill Cowher would be great.

Please not Darrell Bevell, I didn't like him when he was our offensive coordinator, so I don't want to see him be the HC.

are frazier's assistants still with the team? do we expect any of them to stay or will the new guy bring in a whole new batch

i've heard that the wr's coach and special teams coordinator are pretty good guys that might be worth keeping around

Frazier's assistants are still with the team. I expect most of them to be released when the Vikings find a new head coach, but I've heard it speculated the Vikings would like to keep Priefer (ST coach).

jay gruden is off the table (went to washington), sounds like the timeline is having a coach by the senior bowl (25th)

and it seems we're looking at pretty much all nfl coordinators

I think we have a great shot at Zimmer. Seems like he would be a excellent coach.

I'd rather we have a defensive coordinator as our coach, maybe it would help with our horrible defense, except Frazier was a defensive coordinator, yet our defense was worse than ever, so I dont know.

they met with zimmer today, and the lions hired caldwell so only the browns and us still need a coach - so they could take more time if they wanted

todd bowles ruled out the browns job, he might be another finalist for the vikes

It's official. Mike Zimmer is the new head coach.
