vikings @ packers 7:25pm - Thursday Night Football

Post#1 » by hermes » Tue Sep 30, 2014 2:50 am

vikings (2-2) @ packers (2-2)

short week, hopefully teddy is ready to go 100%
packers got back on track in a big way against the bears last week, hopefully the defense continues to improve and is up for the challenge (xavier on nelson will probably be big)
is the packers defense good this year?

i feel like teddy is capable enough that norv can bring in and do more and more things each week as teddy continues to grow

go vikings!

Though you could say every week is a 'must win,' this one would be HUGE.

I'm expecting Teddy to tape up his ankle and come ready to play. He's a competitor too so he'll fight it.

I don't think it's a must win, but a win would put us in really good position. It's going to be tough though. It will be interesting to see if the offense we put up last week was a fluke or if we can maintain it.

'Must win' (see the single quotation) in a sense we need to leap frog the Packers if we want a legitimate shot to win the division. Send them to 2-3 while we're at 3-2. These divisional games are most important, especially to this team that's just finding their identity and have the momentum going their way after the big win last Sunday.

Packers are dead last in rush defense. We just tore up the Falcons that are ranked ahead of them but still poor. I'm expecting similar production on the ground even after the Packers watching the film on us all week. The team will go as far as Teddy can help take them so it's important that he's not too bothered by the ankle injury.

More worried about a shoot out. Hopefully we can pressure Rodgers enough. That may not even been enough to really effect him.

Packers do have a decent pass defense, so if Teddy plays, he'll be tested.

Very true, we really need to have a run game. Will open up pass action and it allows us to hold the ball longer.

Ill be interested to see what Zimmer comes up with to scheme against Rodgers. Considering the Vikings have played against Brady-Brees-Ryan they haven't done too bad considering the talent and injuries of the defense.

The key is clearly getting off on 3rd downs. Lately it seems like it doesn't matter if its 3rd and 1 or 3rd and 15, Vikings can't get off the field.

But seriously, if Teddy can go into Green Bay on a short week and on a bum ankle, and beat the Packers, it'll be better then Christmas.

I think the key to getting off the field on 3rd and long is a pass rush. If we give Rodgers time, he'll find somebody open even if he needs 10-15 yards. Against the Falcons, we didn't get any pressure on Ryan until the 4th quarter when they were playing a TE at tackle.

The d line we have should be able to get pressure without a blitz. They dominated the Rams line, so I know they have the potential.

It's starting to sound like Teddy won't play, which is disappointing but understandable.

sounds like rain as well, ponder's probably lucky this game is on the road - either way the key is running the ball

its the safe move, sounds like teddy hasn't practiced much or at all and i am fine with resting him to prevent further injury. this is a big game but we won't be out of it if we lose

edit: i guess schefter is saying teddy is out

Sounds like its Ponder. Hoping he plays out of his mind, but I have lots of doubts.

i'm over cautious so i'm leaning toward ponder

also because i just want to see how ponder does and everyone's reaction to him - it would be hilariously awesome if he led a dramatic 4th quarter comeback and won it

Great, they'll just stack the box the whole game while we watch Ponder struggle to throw any pass over 10 yds.

Hoping norv has some trick plays up his sleeve, otherwise could be a long night for the defense.
