lost fumble ended up being the difference

played fairly well but the chiefs offense is just so good. turns out getting positive yards every play is really helpful

hopefully jj is ok

Yeah, I couldn't believe we fumbled on the first play. We're definitely on the brink. We need to start winning if the season has any hope.

and tony romo was right, you can see a good team here. we've been in all these games. cut the turnovers down and we could be undefeated or only 1 loss

the random luck of last year has really come down hard in the other direction this year. i figured we could maybe get away with like .500 in one score games but the football gods want to get us back down to average in a hurry apparently. we'll probably lose all our one score games this year. which is especially troubling since we always keep it close

If we're going to be bad, we might as well be really bad. Since we didn't extend Cousins this offseason, I kind of assume we'll be looking to draft a QB and we probably need to have a top 5 pick to get one of the top ones.
But I agree that we're way more talented than that.

oct 31 is the trade deadline
they aren't rushing jefferson back (and we don't know how serious that injury is)

we have @ bears, home with 49ers, and @ packers before the deadline

if we're 1-7 or 2-6 after that, do we just trade kirk and pull the plug on the season?
if we win two of them and end up 3-5 (or even better than that), if feels like we'll stumble to around .500 and likely miss the playoffs anyway. especially if jefferson is out for any length of time

It looks like they put Jefferson on IR, so that's at least 4 weeks.

For sure if we lose to the Bears, I would started looking to trade any players that have value and I wouldn't expect back next season. Trading Kirk may require the right situation, and who knows what will be available. I would trade him at that point if there are any decent options.
We also probably would consider trading Danielle Hunter and Harrison Smith.

Yeah, not a whole lot happened to make me feel better about the team.

read somewhere that cousins' base salary this year is only $10m, and if he's traded near the deadline a team would only have to find like $5.5m in space to get him.

so this year's salary isn't the problem, its the no-trade clause and who is going to convince kirk that they'll sign him to an extension if he goes there

I think there’s also an issue of him joining a team midseason, having to learn the offense and be productive. I also assume it would have to be a team with postseason aspirations this year to be worthwhile for Kirk.

kirk did have OC/scheme turnover like every year there for most of his career, so i can appreciate wanting to stick with stability now that he's got it

huge win! cousins was great, oline did everything they could, addison was great and really stepping up with jj out, defense was good

couple weeks ago we're thinking about pulling the plug and tanking and now we're on the verge of turning the season around, wild stuff!

The door to playoffs is back open. We can't let up though, next week against the Packers is still huge.

We’re actually in a 5-way tie for the 3rd wild card spot, but at least we’re in contention.

good news: beat the packers

bad news: kirk might be hurt really badly. what the heck do we do now? stick with hall? is there anyone out there to get?

I don’t even know. What’s the situation with Mullens?

got some needed qb depth in dobbs, but trading cleveland away seems weird

i suppose they are thinking risner can replace him for cheaper
