Mike Doss

Post#1 » by BiggMann » Tue Apr 3, 2007 3:36 pm

Is scheduled for a visit today http://www.startribune.com/510/story/1096705.html

I wouldn't mind bringing in another veteran like Doss, he played with our new D coordinator (brain fart, cant think of his name) in Indy. I've been a fan of Doss, but if we sign him i doubt we'd look at Landry. With Sharper, D. Smith, Tank Williams and Greg Blue we've already got a pretty solid Safety crew but Doss could definitely come in and help at either safety spot.

I still think we need to make a run for Eric Moulds, just to give TJack some weapons.

good find,

my understanding is we are unsure of Smith, Tank is coming from the injury. Depth could help

bigger needs out there.

yeah we definitely have bigger needs, but are there better players still available...?

Childress is reaching with Shaincoe and Circiui (sp?)... he's looking too hard to find that diamond in the rough. He needs to bring in players that will fit into what he is trying to do.

Doss intrigues me. The other three make me fear how the season will go. BOBBY WADE! Wah-flippin-hoo!

Bigg Mann,

wanna give us a scouting report on him? 1 yr, 1 mil contract seems simple and easy.

What does this do to Tank and Smith? Blue is young but needs time. We looking at changing one of them to LB? Or Corner?

He does have some character issues in the past, and the ACL injury, but Im sure our new Def Coord would not have brought him in if he was worried. It looks like we were not the first choice, and many teams turned him down.

Doss wanted more money than teams would give him, so that's why he's been without a job for so much time this offseason.

Pros: Doss is a big hitter, he'll make a lot of bone-jarring hits up in the box. Defensive Captain of the OSU Championship Team, so he has some leadership abilities.

Cons: Lacks great deep speed which can be a problem in coverage. Sometimes takes poor angles to the ball carrier. Goes for the big hit instead of making the tackle from time to time.

No need at all to draft Landry.

Doss is a nice SS, in a classic system he can spend more time in the box. But a cover-2 requires more coverage skill for the SS

Blue is a young guy, so im cool with us using him in reserve. But are we looking at Tank in an LB role (was tossed about last year) and smith as a nickel?
