Talented but a wicked knucklehead. Would be good if he can actually stay out of trouble though (big if)

I like a Britt a lot more with Edelman in the fold. Who else is still out there for WR's?

I really like the idea of having LaFell though my gut says that means they are going to waive Amendola. We at least have lots of WR if not a great one.

If Amendola gets cut then good riddance! Way to injury prone! way too unreliable!
Some of the 'experts' had him rated higher than Wes at that time (without the injuries!)

I will admit I was high on Amendola over Welker and to be honest, touchdowns aside (and I know that is a huge aside) the numbers are very similar between Amendola and Welker.
Games Rec Yards YPC
12 54 663 11.7
13 73 778 10.7

If Adelman didn't have the year he had it would be a bigger issue but with him becoming the 100 catch 1000 yd guy I would rather have younger bigger guys. I am a little worried about Wes to be honest I think he has taken a few to many to the head.

First game amendola looked better then Welker. Problem is he couldn't stay on the field. Tough luck for him. I think if they get Britt then he's cut. Which I hope. Britts a potential moss type reciever while you have your welker in Edelman and a great third option in LaFell. If they don't get Britt though I'm still pumped, I love LaFell addition.

Edelman agreed to terms on a new contract on Saturday.

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutd ... 20745.html
The New England Patriots perfectly played their negotiations with receiver Julian Edelman this offseason.

New England offered Edelman a contract before free agency, but he wanted to test the market. The Patriots did not overreact. They watched Edelman hit free agency, and he visited San Francisco on Friday. When the smoke cleared, Edelman decided to remain in New England.

Edelman agreed to terms on a new contract on Saturday. Terms of Edelman’s deal are currently unknown.

Welker didn't stay on the field either. The Broncos put up video games numbers but the Patriots still finished second in offense which is frankly amazing.

I cannot understand why the Broncos kept Welker at 8 mil this season (with a 2mil cap hit) and let Decker go when he signed for a little over 7 a year.

Am I missing something? Welker's played 153 out of 176 games and that's including the one season in 2004 where he was signed as an UDFA and was let go after the first game with the Chargers. Take out that season and he averages 15 games/season, 936 yards, and 84 receptions. Unless you're talking about this season then I guess you could say he didn't compared to his other seasons but you don't get much more durable than him

Patriots sign WR Brandon LaFell to a three-year, $11 million contract

By Mike Dyce
http://fansided.com/2014/03/16/patriots ... ct/#!z9udG
The New England Patriots have added another pass catcher for quarterback Tom Brady, signing wide receiver Brandon LaFell away from the Carolina Panthers. LaFell signed a three-year, $11 million contract to go to the Patriots.

During the Panthers’ break out season, LaFell caught 49 catches, 627 yards, and five touchdowns. Depending on where he winds up in the Patriots’ depth chart he could have better numbers. If he can prove himself to be a reliable target for quarterback Tom Brady, his numbers could increase significantly.

New England Patriots Are Going After Quantity Instead of Quality At WR

by Justin Patrick
http://www.rantsports.com/nfl/2014/03/1 ... ity-at-wr/
The Patriots need a true No. 1 receiver, and they still don’t have that unless TE Rob Gronkowski can finally stay healthy all season. Re-signing Edelman, signing LaFell and possibly signing Britt will not make the Patriots markedly better than they were in 2013 when they lost in the AFC Championship game.

In addition to Edelman, Amendola, LaFell, Gronkowski and possibly Britt, the Patriots also have Aaron Dobson, Josh Boyce and Kenbrell Thompkins on the roster. It seems the Patriots are going for quantity instead of true quality at the receiver position. Here’s to hoping it works out for them.

I am not talking about Welker from 3 years ago I am talking about what he did last season. I think he was a very durable player who took a ton of hits for this team for years. My concern last year was that those hits have taken a toll. He missed 3 games last year and over the first 8 games he caught 50 balls and 9 touchdowns and over the last 8 (which he missed 3 granted) 23 balls and 1 touchdown. He was okay in the postseason but not a big factor.

I think your just on borrowed time with him.

Not really sure why Vince is so angry with New Englands organization. Reports are coming out he furiously cleaned out his locker then ripped off his name plate. The Pats cut Seymour to get his current deal done. Seymour was just as big to this team as Vince was/is. It's a business, get over it.

and they didn't even cut him yet, just asked to rework...

Easley's ex-coach compared him to Geno Atkins.
http://www.csnne.com/new-england-patrio ... truck-gold

Pats tried out two RBs (Ronnie Brown and Brian Leonard) and two TEs (Nate Byham and Ben Hartsock)
- Brown last played with SD (16 games, 156 yards, 3.5 average) and was a 1,000 yard rusher his second year with Miami
- Leonard last played with TB (16 games, 182 yards, 3.9 average)
- Nate Byham last played with TB (4 games and only 38 yards)
- Ben Hartsock last played with CAR (15 games and only 30 yards)

RB James White sounds interesting. Only two fumbles on 643 carries and 73 receptions. Good with pass protection and was said to be similar to Vereen.

- Reiss Says Johnson would require a 2015 first round pick and 2016 conditional second round pick
- Also says White could be the future replacement for Ridley whos contract ends in 2015
- Collins is expected to make a big jump
- Easley and Garoppolo are the only two rookies that have not yet signed with the Pats

- Signed:
WR Wilson Van Hooser: 6 ft, 197 pounds. 3 receptions for 188 yards, 15 kickoffs for 237 yards at Tulane
WR Reese Wiggins : 5 ft 11, 193 pounds. 26 receptions for 372 yards last season at East Carolina
DB Daxton Swanson: Signed by Colts as a RFA but hasn't played
DL L.T. Tuipulotu: 12 games, 42 total tackles, 1 ½ sacks at Utah

- Released RFA S Jeremy Deering and WR Greg Orton

We brought in Jermichael Finnley for medical evaluation today. If we can get him for a decent price, maybe 2-8 millionish, I would love to sign him for the year to add depth.

They really should get someone at TE because their depth chart looks horrible there aside from Gronkowski. Hooman, DJ Williams (70 yards in his CAREER), then two rookies.
