I like

George/Hill/Stephenson
Granger/George/#26
West/Amundson/Pendergraph
Hibbert/Fesenko/Amundson/Pendergraph

just as well. I see Collison as having more upside than Hansbrough as I've seen more point guards than power forwards need years to learn to play the position at this level.

and I wouldn't be all that upset if Deron isn't available, Collison moves up to his spot, and the #10 pick becomes the backup point.

Oh, I hear ya. If he wanted the best possible team around him, I think we're the best suitor that could make things happen to outright sign him. However, he's not familiar with Indianapolis. He is familiar with Dallas, and they aren't exactly going to be a bad team themselves if they can add Deron. It also seems like he's comfortable in NJ/Brooklyn, and they seem to be promising him they can get someone like Dwight to play with him.

In my scenario, Collison is moved to the Bulls along with Dahntay and Pendergraph in order to get the #29 pick AND clear the cap space necessary to sign Deron to a max deal.

understood, Scoot, I just don't think signing any new player to a max deal is the plan. we're still playing out the band of brothers plan and so I expect them to resign Hibbert and Hill and try to improve the bench. Larry says he expects Stephenson and Pendergraph to contribute next year so I don't see them being traded away. I expect Vogel to push to keep everyone and I just don't know how much Bird is committed to Fesenko, Amundson, Price, and Barbosa. He moved Rush last year which suggests he wouldn't be afraid to move Hansbrough this year if he thinks he can improve the bench that way.

short of a draft night trade that brought a big body such as Okefor, I'd sign Fesenko as soon as allowed. I think we need him to match up with the Bulls Asik. that puts Lou in direct competition with Tyler. how you fill out the roster from there really depends upon what the draft gives you.

I have no doubt that the avenue we explore will be pretty much re-signing everyone, while maybe kicking the tires on Steve Nash (as we wouldn't really have to let anyone go to do so). Then, continuing to fill out the bench via minor trades and such.

Let me premise this by saying that the only reason I would trade Granger is that I think Grangeris standing in the way of us seeing what Paul George can truly do.

Indiana Pacers Trade Breakdown
Incoming Players
Kevin Martin 29 year old , 6-7, 185 lb G from Western Carolina

Darren Collison 24 year old , 6-0, 160 lb G from UCLA
10.3 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 4.8 apg in 31.3 minutes in 2011-2012

Los Angeles Lakers Trade Breakdown
Incoming Players
Danny Granger 29 year old , 6-8, 225 lb F-G from New Mexico
18.7 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 1.8 apg in 33.3 minutes
Luis Scola 32 year old , 6-9, 235 lb F from Caja Laboral (Spain)
15.5 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 2.1 apg in 31.3 minutes

Outgoing Players
Pau Gasol 31 year old , 7-0, 227 lb F-C from FC Barcelona Regal (Spain)
17.4 ppg, 10.4 rpg, 3.7 apg in 37.4 minutes in 2011-2012

17.4 ppg, 10.4 rpg, 3.7 apg in 37.4 minutes

Outgoing Players
Kevin Martin 29 year old , 6-7, 185 lb G from Western Carolina
17.1 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 2.8 apg in 31.6 minutes in 2011-2012
Luis Scola 32 year old , 6-9, 235 lb F from Caja Laboral (Spain)

I think Houston would do this, just because it gets Gasol in a Rockets uni. They would then resign Dragic, and have Collison as their backup.

Pacers get a tough minded starting pg, allowing George Hill to be the combo guard off the bench. Martin is an efficient scorer and, as a sg, will not take Paul George's minutes at SF.

Lakers: this is what I'm not sure of. I, personally, would prefer Scola/Granger to Gasol; it adequately fills two starting positions with very good players. I'm not sure whether lakers fans would agree though.

Probably a tad rich for the Rockets to give up. In theory, I could be ok with it. I'm just really not a fan of Martin, but Lowry is a pretty solid add. I think it's about much in terms of return for the Lakers.

They (Rockets) were willing to give up close to this much for Gasol and Odom. This was before Lowry became unhappy with his role. Collison was included to soften the blow of losing Lowry.

I read on the Hoopsworld site recently that Scola is going to be tough to trade due to knees that are wearing out. Too much money and time remaining on the contract given what sounded like a chronic issue. Sorry don't have time to search down the link.

Granger, Jones for 7th pick, Biedrins, Wright

Collison - Hill - Price
Hill - George
George - Barnes (7) - Wright
West - Hansbrough - Melo (26)
Hibbert - Biedrins - Melo

Plus any free agent signings.

I'm sorry why do we want Melo? And Biedrins is awful a shadow of his former self.

I can't see trading Granger for a pick and castoffs. we had the 5th best record in the league. I just don't see the need to move our leader and best scorer to start over.

Just going by NBA Draft net's current board...

If we could sign Nash, trade Collison for Orlando's 19th and Hansbrough for Charlotte's 31st, we could draft Perry Jones(19), Fab Melo(26) and Will Barton(31st). They are all sophomore's and they were all 5* recruits. Would be cool to have virtually the same roster with the addition of Nash and lots of youngsters with upside.

Roy Hibbert, Fab Melo
David West, Perry Jones, Jeff Pendergraph
Danny Granger, Dahntay Jones
Paul George, Will Barton, Lance Stephenson
Steve Nash, George Hill

Maybe re-sign Barbosa and Amoundson if possible to lure Nash and add some veteran presence. Obviously this won't happen but it's fun to dream :).

I do feel good about all of the veterans that will be free agents though. We should be able to sign a couple and at fair prices given how many there are. Guys I'd be interested in for the right price/combination.

PG: Steve Nash, Andre Miller, Goran Dragic, Raymond Felton, Chauncey Billups, Kirk Hinrich, Jason
Kidd
SG: Ray Allen, Jason Terry, Leandro Barbosa, Nick Young, Randy Foye, Mickael Pietrus, OJ Mayo(R), Courtney Lee(R), Jodie Meeks(R), Landry Fields(R), Rudy Fernandez(R)
SF: Gerald Wallace, Jeff Green, Matt Barnes, Carlos Delfino, Nicholas Batum(R), Michael Beasley(R), Daniel Green(R)
PF: Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan, Ersan Ilyasova, Antawn Jamison, Kenyon Martin, Jermaine O'neal, Boris Diaw, Reggie Evans, Ryan Anderson(R), JJ Hickson(R), Anthony Randolph(R)
C: Spencer Hawes, Chris Kaman, Marcus Camby, Marreese Speights, Ian Mahimi, Anthony Tolliver, Aaron Gray, Jason Thompson(R), Kosta Koufos(R), Robin Lopez(R)

Some solid role players in that pile to pick from.

^^^ I like your strategy, but my picks would be a little different. It was reported OKC doesn't want to exercise their pick (28) so we could probably get it for capspace, let alone Hansbrough, whom I'd rather keep as opposed to a late 1st.

#19a. Zeller or #19 b. Melo (don't think he gets past Boston) --------- for DCollison is fair.
#26 Wroten
#28 QMiller -------- for capspace.

Nash ------> GHill ---> Wroten
PG ---------> GHill--> Stephenson
Granger ----> PG--> QMiller
West -----> Hansbrough
Hibbert-----> Zeller/Melo

I could see us venturing into f/agency for an upgrade at the b/u 4 (AJamison, Diaw). Or we could contact the Wolves about ARandolph, who is restricted.

There has to be a point where Simon would eventually bid on a restricted player, like if another organization shows no interest in retaining said player, then we should bid. I know he does it out of respect for not driving up the price, but we need to enter this market because a lot of good players are desperate to secure a deal.

Sacramento is supposedly not going to offer Tyreke Evans a contract extension next offseason, meaning they won't match offers, similar to the Griz and Mayo this offseason. Should we sit on the side while another team pilfers this market? I don't think so.

Yeah, I'd really like to be one of those teams looking to pick up cheap 1st round picks. I think there's quite a few that could be had for cash, capspace, future picks etc pretty easily.

would you guys consider a Granger for Gasol trade? Obviously we would have to include other pieces as well to make it work. We would love to have Collison but I'm sure that isn't happening. We would gladly take George Hill as well :lol:

You guys would be stacked down low. D. West would be great off the bench.

Collison/G. Hill
Barbs/D. Jones/Stephenson
George/
Gasol/West
Hibbert/Psycho T/Amundson
