Around the NBA

Post#1 » by Gremz » Tue Oct 30, 2012 11:48 am

Figured this might build some more banter.

Also, anyone interested in kicking off the game threads? I might be able to sneak one up if no one is interested.

Nuggets tie up Lawson:

Seems like a reasonable deal for both sides. Will be interesting to see how Denver manages all these contracts going forward.

James Harden. wow.

37 points, 12 assists, 6 rebounds, 4 steals. Still think OKC did ok in their trade, but i don't think their people are sleeping too good tonight. lol

Most level headed people would be saying "meh, it's only one game and was against a god awful perimeter defense in Detroit" but watching those highlights he looked ridiculously comfortable out there.

That Lin/Harden backcourt will mesh really well.

More extensions today:

DeRozan: 4 years $42
Holiday: 4 years $46m
Gibson: 4 years $38m
Curry: 4 years $44

Per what we've seen so far in this CBA with extensions they seem about right, still an awful lot of money for guys who aren't exactly stars.

Man, it's getting expensive nowadays.

Ultimately, I'm interested to see what kind of money Tyler Hansbrough will get on the market next year. I just hope it's not us that's paying him big money.

Ill second that. I really dont think he will get too much tho. He's just not that good and he's not that big. I'm guessing 4/12-16? I dont know if I was a gm if id even pay him that much. I really hope we dont bring him back and address the 4 spot in free agency and the draft

I hope we don't give him any money. His decision making is the worst I've seen in the league. (Only second to Javale McGee at points, maybe)

Yea. Its bad. His defense is bad. His offense is bad. He cant finish. So many times he gets a good pass under the rim, and if theres anyone within arms reach, he's not finishing. Hes getting stuffed cuz hes not athletic and cant get above the rim. He doesnt rebound. All he has is his hustle, intensity, solid ft shooter, and a decent J. And some nights he doesnt even bring that to the table. Id honestly rather see Pender or Plums out there. Cant wait til he's gone

Hopefully Paul George can see more then just money signs at the end of the tunnel. He must really be thinking he'll hit the jackpot now.

You said it best, tho, this is a lot of money for guys who are not exactly stars.

Derozan seems really overpaid to me, and I'm not sure was Golden State sees in Curry.

Curry is a good player, just an injury case and from what I've read DeRozan's contract is incentive based, but I'm not certain of the details.

I'd give him a vet minimum's deal and let him take Pendy's spot on the inactive list as the emergency PF. That's really it.

I'm really getting to the point soon where I might consider a more "Moneyball" approach to paying players. I wouldn't scream bloody murder if Hibbert's contract gets moved in the next couple years. Nor George Hill's. Owner's are just stupid. They scream and holler during lockouts, and then go right back to doing what caused the mess in the first place.

Oh yeah, and Troy Murphy has returned to the NBA for Dallas. Good for Troy. Not so good for Dallas. Although, he's really only competing with Eddy Curry at this point.

Eddy Curry was waived. So Murphy gets another chance.

Former Pacer, Brandon Rush, who was beginning to look like he belonged in the NBA, is out for the season after tearing his ACL.
