Playoff Positioning

Post#1 » by Wizop » Sun Apr 13, 2014 2:32 am

The Heat lost to the Hawks tonight so now we are tied with two games to go with us holding the tiebreaker. If we can beat OKC tommorow, the Orlando game will lock us into first.

Meanwhile the Hawks have now locked out the Knicks and can't catch Charlotte so they are set as the #8. Charlotte is in the 7 but can move up to the 6 (if they hold a tie-breaker they might go even higher). 3-7 are not set and I'm not sure who holds the various tie-breakers. well 1 & 2 aren't set either although neither of us can drop to 3.

Awesome to hear that the Hawks won, that gives us a chance. We have to start all of our guys now and just hope they play well. Can't lose this game if we want the 1 seed. The Heat only play the Wizards and Bucks as their last 2.

Maybe OKC rests KD and WB tomorrow because they are locked into the 2 seed?

Not that its gonna make a big difference with the way we have been playing, but it could help.

I'm not calling the Wizards game a walk-over for the Heat. Wiz are playing for playoff positioning too

True, but to be the 1 seed we have to match the Heat over the last 2 games. So if the Heat don't drop a game (which is pretty likely imo, they won't lose to the Bucks, Wizards they should still win), we have to beat both Oklahoma City and Orlando, which I'm not sure is possible.

Is it me, or has the Heat been pretty much as rubbish as we've been since the ASG? People are quick to judge us, but the Heat are playing pretty piss poor as well.

They've played slightly better than us, which is how they caught up with us, but yeah, they've played almost as terribly as us.

Magic number now one. Wonder if Miami will now rest starters?

why would Miami rest starters? Orlando has beaten blazers, thunder, and pacers at home...its not a stretch to say they could beat Indiana in that final game. The heat have the wizards and the sixers left on the schedule, both winnable games.

I hope pacers avoid Chicago. Heat might want to avoid Nets.

<edit> Toronto won tonight while Chicago lost so they are back in a tie for 3/4 with Toronto apparently holding the tie breaker. we might not know who is three and who is four until the season is over.

I will be rooting for yall on Wednesday against the Magic. I think we match up well with yall and it should make for a very entertaining series (especially if we are hitting our 3's). Good luck fellas.

LeBron is sitting tonight, so hopefully that leads to a Wiz win. If they win, we can sit all our guys against Orlando and get the bench some more confidence.

We just clinched the 1 seed. We'll be playing the Hawks in the first round.

Bosh sat too. Toronto and Chicago both winning. We're one. Atlanta is eight. Still questions in between.

Believe bulls need to win tonight (they are leading at moment) and Wednesday and have raps lose. Our best hope could be a nets win in first round

Hi all. Congrats on clinching the 1 seed.

Not sure where to ask this, but what are the chances of the Pacers resting their starters for Wednesday's game?

Amazingly, the Pacers pull out the top seed (I think). Congrats. It just shows that you have to stay positive and continue fighting to the end.

Pacers have to clear their minds and start with a clean slate mentally. If they can do that, I still think that they can beat anyone in the east. I would not favor them against the west, but that is why you play the games.

Now that it is done and over with, I would think the chances are pretty big that we will sit the starters or at least some of them.

Congrats guys. You wanted it, you got it. That's how it's done.
I've come to the conclusion that most folks don't really care that you broke one of the rules... they just enjoy telling you that you broke it.
