"I believe that the former Miami Hurricane was poised to become one of the elite safeties in the league. He just had a knack for the ball, and he had the ability to cover wide receivers one on one."- Mosley on espn.com

I really am going to cry.

elmatatan, obviously they're gonna go with safety first ... they have to even though it's gonna sting a little.

I doubt Reese goes Safety first...unless its sure Phillips is not 100%......we still haven't addressed our MLB situation and Pierce is getting older and slower...

Let's not overreact. I expect him to be back and better than ever next year.

Wow, this is terrible news for us and for the kid. I hope he will recover from this injury and he able to play again.

As for us, we can fill in that hole but how many holes are we going to have to fill in? Tuck went down, Canty went down, Ross went down. We're having some tough luck right now with injuries. I just hope this team can remain strong. It's about making the playoffs. Once we get there, anything can happen (ala 2007 New York Giants).

i dont think phillips/canty/tuck/ross/dockery missing the next few games is such a bad thing. we have tb/kc/oak the next 3 we need everyone healthy for our showdown with the saints

hard hitter ... that's all i know.

He was actually a safety in college who played a little bit of LB. But primarily a safety. He is good in run support (9 tackles last week for the Pack), but doesnt take good routes to the ball and supposedly isnt the most motivated guy around.

I trust Jerry Reese. Maybe they can fix this guy.

Hes 6'4 230...thats practically linebacker size and he was a 3rd rd pick 2 years ago. I like this move. He wont be able to be able to slack on this team, we're not the Packers.

Low risk high reward move by Reese, I like it.

ya'll act like kenny phillips is ed reed or troy polamalu. i do agree he has the ability to get there, but he wasn't there at this point. still a lot of bad routes to the ball in run support and a lot of missed tackles. he was pretty good in coverage though.

a loss but not one where you should think the giants would be done because of it. tuck, would make me feel that way. and eli of course.

Of course he isn't those guys yet, but if you watched this season so far you could say he was well on his way to having a Polamalu or Reed type season. That's what sucks about this whole thing. Here's a guy coming into his own as a safety, and now his whole career is in jeopardy because of arthritis in his knee.

Dang, that sucks. The defense is now stretched way thin. We're going to have to run the ball more now.

i assume because in theory the more you run the more time u have in possesion so less time the defense - kenny will be on the feild

Safeties from the U become stars. Benny Blades, Ed Reed, Sean Taylor, even Brandan Meriweather is pretty good. I hope Kenny Phillips has a full recovery and comes back next year better than ever.

Now we have Aaron Ross and Aaron Rouse lol.

I heard Rouse is a very hard hitter but he has trouble sometimes locating plays on the field.

Ball possession, Sherlock. Less time for our defense to get gassed on the field. They're stretched out as it is...
