Maybe Idzik thinks he could play corner too.

OT: Percy Harvin is now a Jet. What the f**k?

Post#4 » by Zooropa » Fri Oct 17, 2014 10:14 pm

The Seattle Seahawks have agreed to trade wide receiver Percy Harvin to the New York Jets, sources confirmed to ESPN.

Seattle will receive a conditional draft pick in 2015, which will range from a second- to fourth-round pick, a source told ESPN's John Clayton.

Fox Sports first reported the trade, which is contingent on Harvin passing a physical.

In five games for Seattle this season, Harvin has 22 receptions for 133 yards and no touchdowns. He also has 92 rushing yards on 11 carries.

Seattle acquired Harvin from the Minnesota Vikings on March 11, 2013, in exchange for first- and seventh-round picks in 2013, and a third-round pick in 2014.

The Seahawks then signed him to a six-year, $67 million contract with $25.5 million guaranteed.

Great move.

Geno is going to be much better now. I can promise you that.

Bleh...not a real fan of this move. Harvin is injury prone (hip problems being his biggest health concern) and he's nothing but a no.2 receiver. His contract is huge and he has a reputation for not being the sharpest tool in the shed. Yes, if he's healthy he's probably better than any of the Jets other receivers not named Decker but chances are he'll be injured before the season ends. Not exactly a smart way to spend especially with the season all but over with.

I just don't see how this makes sense for either team. Seattle took a loss on their best receiver and the Jets clearly aren't thinking big picture. This season is lost, and Percy is on a huge contract that isn't guaranteed (so there's no guarantee that he remains a Jet). It's a really confusing move in my opinion. And I'm a Giants fan so I have no stake in it.

It is kind of pointless at 1-5 or whatever but Harvin is a good weapon. Probably best served as a No.2 like you said but the difference between him and Kerley isn't even funny. He will at least create some pressure on the defense.

I don't like that we got him after we're all but out of the playoffs' but he has no guaranteed money after this season.

Jets finally land an offensive weapon, however can Marty utilize him effectively? I love what he will bring to our special teams, he will make them elite again. However I'm not expecting much in the receiving game at all this year, some bubble screens and end arounds.

According to Wikipedia:

"On October 17, 2014 Harvin was traded to the New York Jets for a two packs of big league chew (the purple flavor) and half a pack of Big Red, Pete Carroll's favorites.[34][35]"

Y'all not looking at the bigger picture.

This season is over, yes.

But next season is when the fun begins.

Our potential WR lineup will have Percy Harvin, Eric Decker & Amari Cooper. Even with Geno as a whatever QB those are some pretty decent options. After that we go after our secondary, O-line & our running game. We might even go after a QB next year. I'm still not a fan of Izdik but after Rex is gone finally we can focus on the offense.

probably won't make a difference this season. I don't think the weapons are as big of an issue as the fact that Geno can't really make great decisions out there (for the most part this season)

Conditional pick is 2015, ranging between 2nd-4th round.

Which begs the question, WHY? Harvin has not stayed healthy or consistent enough to be a game-changer or even worth a 2nd-4th pick. If Idzik isnt wasting picks he's crapping them away on players like Harvin.

Time to clean house this offseason. Everyone. Absolutely everyone.

Absolutely love this move. Bubble screens... you know, the entire reason Geno was even on the map in college? I can't think of anyone I'd rather run one with than Percy Harvin.

Damn this could either be a really good move for the jets... or a really bad move for Percy Harvin's career

Y didn't the Jets get Desean Jackson instead? Wouldn't have cost a pick, cheaper contract, and better player.
