I just don't think Rivera is as versatile as Walford and Holmes. They are both big, fast solid in run protection. In the hands department it might be a push. In the long run in a position like that where we have 4 guys that can all contribute IMO I just want to see competition and the best guys getting the snaps. Whether that turns out to Riv or Holmes I'm cool.

looks like Walford finally got over whatever was holding him back from seeing the field.
he had way more snaps than Rivera last game (41 to 24).

Maybe it took him a while to get going after missing a good portion of training camp.

We signed our 3rd db with the last McDonald today. After Tevin and Dexter, Dewey McDonald has been with the Colts and Pats this year. Now the 6'0 220lb safety find himself on our practice squad. We'll see if he proves himself enough to get called up.

Jamize Olewale looks like he will be getting a large role in the future. Which is a GOOD THING!

Good move by my man Reggie to extend him.

Good things happen when he touches the ball.

Looks like Neiron Ball wont be back until next year.

smfh.
He showed some promise. I wanted him to get some snaps for his development.

Love bringing back Olawale. He's Reece lite, and maybe the Reece next year.

Sucks about Ball, but have to believe he has the inside track to the ILB job next year. It was his until he got injured, and Lofton is simply in the tank at this point. We will need to bring in competition considering his injury history, but I do really like Ball. Ideally he's a high-talent backup next season though.

When we consider talent level and experience Ball and Heeney should be our backup reserve LBs in the role that Alexander and Toomer are in this year. They have potential but were forced in to service by guys in front of them not producing and injuries. I think we go after guys like Nick Perry or Mike Neal from GB, Bruce Irvin or Mike Morgan SEA or Danny Trevathan or Von Miller DEN that can come in just like Malcom Smith did this yr and upgrade the position and won't necessarily be resigned by their own teams.

He's gonna be gunning for a huge payday, and while it's great to have him here, I think the market will knock his value back down towards something realistic. I'd be happy with 4-5m a year, say 5-25m with 10m gtd.

Webb should get a some garbage bags to pack his sh*t and that is all. If RG isn't on our list of things to upgrade, we're in big trouble.

I think Reggie is gonna grade the olinemen in the draft and take his favorite when we pick in the 2nd or 3rd. I also think we will go after another olinemen in free agency on top of talks continuing with Penn on an extension. He is playing himself out of money and so he won't be able to command around 10mil a yr like Peters and Albert have recently. If we can get him for 7-8 mil a yr for 2-3 years it'll get done.

I agree that Amerson could get an offer soon, especially if he has another solid game vs Denver. But he is still on his rookie deal thru 2016 so it's not necessary.

While I like Crabtree and all, I'm not big on

1) paying him out big time before he hit the market

2) paying him 19m guaranteed, 8.4 annually. That's what you'd expect to get on the open market, not from the team that resurrected your career.

Seth Roberts has had a breakout season and I think a lot of WR would have been willing to come here and play with a talented young arm like Carr. I know we have to spend the money somewhere, but I think he still takes this offer come March, if we wanted to offer this much.

But it stops a team like the STL, SD, Pitt, NYG, NE, DEN, CLEV, CHI, BAL or BUF from getting a chance to drive up the price since they all have money to spend and will be aggressive looking to upgrade at WR. It's a thin FA class at the position so we made a good move.

I was hoping we would take runs at the elite in FA instead of following the GB model of only re-signing your own.

A run at Alshon Jeffry would have made me very happy, giving the Raiders a truly elite passing game. If we were just clearing cap only to clear it.. eh, I'm not a big fan of that. We waited 3 years so we could just keep re-signing our own? I hope we eventually wind up taking down a top name - Bruce Irvin, JPP, Weddle, Daniels, Gipson, Okung, Josh Norman, Yanda, M. Wilkerson, and in the unlikely event of no franchise tag, hope and a prayer, Von Miller.

I'm in on Wilkerson this offseason (Him, Mario and Dan??? hnnnnggghhh) but what did you expect from Reggie coming from where he comes from?

I expect off seasons like last year less and less as he gets more Raider draft picks under his belt.
and I expect drafts like that more and more where he trades back and gets more picks.

We aren't clearing cap just to clear it. That makes no sense. We don't want to be the team signing 10 free agents every year. We want to be the team that drafts well ( which we have the last few years) and keep our own developed players and add a few impact players every year til we are where we want to be. After signing our draft picks (10mil), tendering RFAs we want to keep (5-10mil) and signing our own UFA we want to keep (5-30) with Penn, A Smith, Woodson, King, Autry, A Holmes, Tuck, Webb and Mays.

Im not saying we resign all those guys, in fact I don't want to at all but we could be left with 20-30mil in FA that we would need to us carefully and not go on a spending spree like everyone seems to think.

Look at this years FA class. Hudson, Williams, MSmith, LSmith, Allen, Crabby, Helu, Lofton and ASmith. Plus Amerson on waivers

Non of us would have really targeted any of these guys but I think we only part with Lofton, Helu and maybe Allen. Aldon is also up in the air due to suspension. The rest were great pickups that weren't big names.

Im not against going big I just don't think that is where are money is best used to get good results. We could be used to drive up a guys price before he signs with another team and in the process lose out on real good players.Reggie does a good job of targeting correctly and realisticly. The only guys on your list that I think we'd have a good chance at would be Bruce Irvin due to him being 28 and having ties to KNJ. I think Wilkerson, Norman, Gipson and Miller will get franchised.

Contract is even better than previously reported. Reggie continues to impress. He will stay the course and build the team thru the draft and sign solid players to good deal til we are stocked at every position across the board. That is how you build a winner. Those without the patience can keep doubting and second guessing but the process remains and will push forward. Go Nation!

Crabby has earned every dollar that he is getting from his performance this yr and Jeffery...well, just look at his statline and tell me you'd want to offer him 70mil for 5yr which he'll probably get from financially non-prudent team like Washington or the like.

47 catches, 690 yards, 2 TDs in 7 games. That's bad? Almost 7 catches per game and 100 yards per game?

How about his per game statline? He's averaging 98 receiving yards per game. Would be awful to frontload a contract and spend all that cap we've accrued on a legitimate #1 WR. Crabs is in between a 1-2, and while he is a possession receiver, Jeffery also has a lower drop rate than Crabs. If I could sign a legit #1 in his prime like Jeffery in free agency, that would be a coup. Not only a volume #1, but a deep threat, a RZ maven.. hell yes I'd love to bring him in at that rate. Any team looking for a WR with money to spend would too.
