star. we need a NT first. reliable LBs are always available in free agency but a franchise anchoring NTs are hard to come by. we need to convert to 3-4 and star is the one. as much as i would love to have manti, he isn't worth the #3 overall pick.

is Star good enough for the 3rd pick?

was wondering if we could trade our way into 2 first round picks.
maybe Star and Jarvis...or Star and Manti (even though after this NC game I'm skeptical)

well i feel that we still have lamar houston and tollfson under contract and hope we bring back matt shaunassy. if we do, then we have a hole at DT position and star can be a stud NT to convert us to 3-4. but if we don't bring back matt, then we can use a DE and move houston inside as a 4-3 DT next to kelly.

i don't want manti. ILB are not too hard to find, and unless his name is ray lewis, they don't impact the game as much as a DL. a great DL can make an average LB corp look HOF. but a bad DL will make a great LBs look average at best.

jones, i dunno man. maybe the best move is to trade down and pick up a 2nd rounder to go along with the first. we have so many holes it's not even funny

I think drafting Manti would be a mistake personally...but i do think they need to work on the front 7 i dont like Star but that will most likely be the pick...him or Moore

http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/post/ ... nsive-line

sorry don't feel like quoting the parts of this.
basically the line we once had is finished.

cliffs:
- no rip
- no kelly
- desmond bryant free agent
- shaughny free agent

lets be honest here.
id love to put star and Lamarr next to e/o.
and re-sign matt shaughnessy

matt shaughnessy is a good player, but he is strickly a 4-3 end. i think we are either looking to go 3-4 full time or a hybrid.

You know what's funny? I didn't even know that we had a 1st round pick until yesterday. I thought we for sure lost it in the Carson Palmer deal. THANK GOD.

The answer here is simple: Star. STAR. STAR.

All day, every day. Dude is a game-changer that requires double-teams just to keep him in check. We have many holes, including CB, LB, and WR (along with the DL), but with Seymour probably gone, we especially need to sure up that side of things.

CB can wait until the 3rd round.

I think star is way overrated...the raiders pass rush was what 31st in the league last year?....they just need to either trade it and get more picks or go with moore..no Star

with a few thinking maybe Star.
thoughts on the draft after the signing of Burnett, mauaiva (sp?) and roach?

My Raiders big board at #3

1) Tony Fisher
2) Shariff Floyd
3) Dion Jordan

But in reality, I'd love to trade down.

I have no interest in drafting a QB in this draft, or a CB. CBs are the most overrated position, and can look a ton better if you have a quality pass rush.

well, 2 and 3 would be nice if we were going to stay 4-3.

but Allen seems to indicate that we'll be mixing both.
id love to mix star and lamarr.

interesting though.
an OT???

Star I like as a player, the health thing has me worried though. If we could move down in the 6-10 range and grab Star and add a pick to it, I'd do that.

I'm not really worried about what Allen wants though. I think he's a stopgap coach, and I think we'll be pretty awful next year. Which is why I'm a fan of Fisher, if we have him and Veldheer on either side, I think we have the makings of a dominant O-line.

i have no idea how he convinced those people to come work with our coaching staff.

it boggles the mind.
but I've always viewed him as a stop gap coach as well.

im crossing my fingers that we get david shaw from Stanford.
i think thats the move we need to have our eyes set on

back to the draft.
yea, i agree on fisher.
i don't know....it just seems like we have nothing going for us on the defensive side of the ball.
seems like that side of the ball will be pretty pathetic next year...and i don't know when we're going to start drafting and building something there if we don't do it with this draft.

That's true. It's much harder to find DTs, IMO, outside of the draft. I have rosy glasses for Fisher I think.

I thought Jordan was going to be a 3-4 OLB? Could be that his tweener status makes him average in two spots... but I was hoping he could be an Aldon Smith type.

Joeckel I like as well but I think its a lock that he goes #1. I'm starting to think I might prefer us trading down if possible, into the 6-8 range. Star should be there, snag him and add more picks for our FO to play with

I've figured out my plan of action.

I'm trying to trade from 3rd to 7 with Arizona.
I'm trying to trade Carson to the Jets for this year's 2nd...or Jax's 2nd...and another pick...whenever.

plan?
draft Star at 7 and draft Manti in the early 2nd round and just move to the 3-4.

not buying Allen's whole we can do both 3-4 and 4-3 approach.
do not want floyd.
lets bulk up, up front...and get some young LBs to build around.

Not sure how I feel about Manti. I like the plan though... We'll need at least one hybrid OLB/DE to rush on Houston's side though. Really wish we could nab a Dion Jordan-like player in the 1st or 2nd
