Wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole. Only would make sense for a mature team with a very strong locker room that has solid stability in place from the top down to take a flyer on him. He would be the ultimate distraction to any rebuild project.

Looks like the Bosa situation is getting worse.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000689696/article/chargers-issue-statement-on-joey-bosa-negotiations

On one hand Bosa wont look great in the eyes of his teammates and around the NFL.

But the chargers have a history of this and it seems they wont give him what every top 3 pick gets.

Could be that Bosa might go back into the draft next year.

It would be really interesting if Bosa landed in the draft again next year. Not that I would want the Niners to take him, but it's already looking like a pretty deep draft for pass rushers, and he would make it that much deeper. QB is obviously our priority, but I would love to see us come out of the first four rounds next year with a pass rushing OLB (pending Tank and Harold's development), WR, and RB. If we can add legit talent at those spots, of course pending QB, this team could rebound with several strong years.

I didn't even know that he was still in the league:

Mike Williams - WR - Free Agent

Chiefs released WR Mike Williams.

Williams was trying to rejuvenate his career in Kansas City, but looked sluggish in the preseason and had a drop in the Chiefs' second exhibition game. At age 29, the former second-round pick's career looks to be nearing an end.

Ninkovich is out, so it makes sense to add some depth. I'm assuming the compensation was relatively low, so why not give him a shot? The Niners did some nice things with underperforming first rounders when they made their serious push over the past few years (Rogers, Whitner). It's not a bad approach if the price is right.

Especially if you have more faith in your scheme and ability to develop players than you have in the Browns....

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport's "understanding" is that Tony Romo (back) would return "by midseason" in a "best-case scenario."

For whatever it's worth, RapSheet adds Romo "broke a different bone" in his back "than last time," when Romo suffered a fracture in 2014. Whenever Romo is deemed ready to play, RapSheet says he will likely need pre-game epidurals. The timeline being thrown around by most reporters is 6-to-10 weeks, though six weeks is obviously on the optimistic side. The Cowboys will open the season playing slow-paced, run-first football with two rookies in the backfield (Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott) and a talent-deficient defense. Romo should be scratched off of fantasy-draft cheatsheets.

Maybe time to retire Romo?

I despise the cowboys but it will be interesting to see Dak with Elliot and that oline.

Wow. Of all the rookie QB's that I didn't see starting this season, Prescott has to be right near the top of the list. He's had a great preseason but I just assumed that Romo would play.

Ian Rapoport:

The #Browns have traded P Andy Lee to the #Panthers, source said.

The rare punter that can say he was traded twice in his career.

They got a 4th round pick. What did we get last year when we traded him?

Niners got a seventh rounder in 2017 (Browns' pick will come in 2018). Not looking like a good trade for the Niners, granted the Niners had drafted Pinion and thus had no leverage.

Word is the Browns traded him at least in part because he didn't try to tackle the return man on a TD return. Are you kidding me? It's the frickin' preseason. If I was a coach, I would explicitly tell my punter and kicker not to try to make tackles in the preseason.

Rand Getlin:

I'm told the #Chargers have released QB Zach Mettenberger.

Ian Rapoport:

They had talks with the #Cowboys about him before releasing him.

Hue Jackson is cleaning house in Cleveland. Should end up being a real nice move for the Panthers. I wouldn't underestimate the psychological impact these moves are making on the younger players - he's tearing down their previous culture. It might seem stupid and trivial to make that type of move, but at the same time I get it. We're talking about the Browns and he's not afraid to ship guys out regardless of what they've done before who aren't fully on board.

I'd be surprised though if he made a similar type of move next year after he's done breaking eggs.
