Staley is playing way, way, way too much for my liking in this Pro Bowl. He was on the left side in the first half and now he's on the right. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Now Bethea made maybe the hardest tackle of the game on Darren Sproles after a long run. Stop it! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Mike Nolan was also linked to them. I kind of hope they promote from within. I might be the biggest Arians guy on the planet outside of some of the illogical people in AZ, but he doesn't have the strongest candidates on staff for a big role bump IMO. Wouldn't ever rule out what they could all do collectively but I'm just talking about them as lone men.

Arians confirmed today that they'll have an announcement soon and that they will fill the job from within.

Hearing OLB coach James Bettcher will be named the new #AzCardinals defensive coordinator. Bettcher came to Arizona with Arians from Indy.

World, meet Brent Grimes' wife, Miko...

Brent Grimes' wife goes off on the NFL

For whatever it's worth, I thought Grimes was the MVP myself after watching it, too.

Mike Garafolo:

Richard Sherman: "Every one of the NFL's personnel should be obligated to speak weekly." Mentioned Goodell specifically.

And when he starts a football league of his own he can be the one to put that requirement into place and make it happen.

This could get very interesting:

Haloti Ngata - DL - Ravens

The Baltimore Sun's Mike Preston believes DL Haloti Ngata could be cut if he and the Ravens cannot agree on a contract extension.

Baltimore's preferred option in dealing with Ngata's untenable $16 million cap hit is a contract extension similar to the one OLB Terrell Suggs signed last offseason, but Ngata has been reluctant to renegotiate the last several years. The Ravens could save $8.5 million by cutting Ngata, but Ngata was still a force inside last season despite missing four games due to suspension. With Ngata heading into the final year of his deal, an extension makes sense for both sides, but it is still far from a sure thing Ngata is a Raven next season.

"As noted earlier by Gantt, future Browns quarterbacks coach Kevin O’Connell currently is working with quarterback Marcus Mariota. Since the Browns haven’t officially hired O’Connell yet, the eventual employee can do things that he couldn’t do if he weren’t currently an employee."

Complaints begin about Browns brazenly exploiting loophole | ProFootballTalk http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/20 ... -loophole/

Bob Condotta:

I've confirmed Jeremy Lane's injury is an ACL. Those are usually a nine-month recovery, so that would put him back at mid-season or so.

Ouch. They could lose Maxwell on the FA market, too. I really, really hope Tharold Simon doesn't pan out like I thought he could/would when they drafted him either. He looked horrible in the Carolina playoff game and then again in the Super Bowl. He was at least partially/mostly responsible for around 200 yards receiving and 4 TDs in those two games combined.

Tony Pauline:

Yesterday I mentioned how hot the free agent cornerback market will be. Early numbers i'm hearing are $10 mill/annually for Byron Maxwell

Currently, only Patrick Peterson ($14.010M), Richard Sherman ($14M), Joe Haden ($13.5M), and Brandon Carr ($10.020M) are the only corners whose deals AVERAGE out to $10M per year.

Johnathan Joseph, Sam Shields, and Leon Hall all average $9.75M per year.

Aqib Talib averages $9.5M and Vontae Davis averages $9M.

Nobody else among CBs in the NFL averages more than $8.5M per year.

1. No surgery for Chancellor, but possible surgery for Simon: Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll confirmed to reporters Friday that strong safety Kam Chancellor will not need surgery on the torn MCL in his knee. On Thursday, Seattle general manager John Schneider said he was uncertain of Chancellor’s status. Carroll also confirmed that cornerback Richard Sherman will not need surgery for the ligament damage in his left elbow. However, Carroll said it’s possible cornerback Tharold Simon will need surgery on his shoulder, which he dislocated late in the season. That’s more bad news for a banged-up secondary that includes the upcoming shoulder surgery for free safety Earl Thomas and ACL surgery for nickelback Jeremy Lane, which likely will keep him out until close to midseason in 2015.

Report: Seahawks offer Lynch $11-12M for 2015

Yahoo's Rand Getlin reports the Seahawks have offered Marshawn Lynch a deal that would pay him between $11 million and $12 million in 2015.

The deal would span either two or three years, and include $9 million in 2016. "It's not clear whether Lynch is inclined to accept it," reports Getlin. The Seahawks seem to be using media reports like this one to put pressure on Lynch, who was reportedly disenchanted by coaches and management during the 2014 season. Although Lynch may need more time to make his decision, we suspect this generous pay day will be hard for him to pass up.
