Jim Harb. act is running thin with players!!!?????????????

i was under the impression Harbaugh was a player coach ? anyone have a idea of whats really going on in the locker room?

This has been going on in the NFL for years now and Jim does seem like a very emotional type coach. He seems like the type of coach to get in your face and tell you what's wrong about yourself unlike Pete Carroll who seems to kiss up to the players in Seattle. Especially with majority of the players using PED's...But with all that being said, i don't give a crap if some key players like Jim or not, the fact of the matter is that he's a Football genius. NINERS MUST KEEP JIM AT ALL MEANS NECESSARY. 3 straight NFC title game appearances with one trip to the Super Bowl man, facts are facts. He's changed the culture of SF since he's got here and it's been for the good. And if it comes down to keeping Baalke or Harbaugh, i'm choosing Jim in a heartbeat

I was thinking Boldin would try to get a 3rd year but it looks like the 49ers added more guaranteed money to their 2-year deal.

Agree 100%. A top-5 coach or a good-but-not-great GM is a no brainer as far as I'm concerned.

Either way I think his comments recently have soothed things a bit. I'm pretty confident he'll get an extension either this offseason or next.

I heard that the Niners offered him the choice of 2 or 3 years, and he chose 2.

If that's true, I imagine we probably offered him a choice along the lines of 2/12/9 guaranteed or 3/15/10 guaranteed

Whitner looks like he's signing a deal with the Cleveland Browns.

Reports suggest that the 49ers are unsure whether to make Carlos Rogers a June 1 cut designation(6.6M savings) or to just get the savings now(5.1M). A June 1st designation still releases Rogers into the FA market but his cap savings doesn't become official until then.

I'm also hearing that the Niners have reached a 4 year agreement with Antoine Bethea. He doesn't have the same hard hitting presence as Whitner, but he's exceptional in pass coverage.

Also Schefter just reported that the Niners traded a 6th round pick to the Jags for Blaine Gabbert. That should take care of backup qb.

I would think Gabbert re-works his deal.

so long Donte Whitner a.k.a. "Hitner"

glad we resigned Dawson, that was a MUST

i didn't really watch the Colts that much last season so i don't know what to expect from Antoine Bethea

WOAH Jonathan Martin? eh but apparently him & Jim have history & at least he won't be starting & be a backup for Staley

good ridden's to Carlos Rodgers smh

Like the Niners' moves on Day 1.

Bethea over Whitner is a net positive for us, IMO. He's better in coverage and still strong against the run. The money saved is gravy.

Gabbert...my reaction is basically "ehh." He's got an arm, and maybe Harbaugh can make him into a decent backup. Worth a shot for a 6th rounder. Really like the Martin deal as reported so far. Basically a free tryout and costs us a 2015 7th only if he makes the final 53. Helps us shore up the backup OT spot. Wright is a solid guy to retain for sub packages (still think we need to draft a corner high though).

The other thing I like (and that some writers have picked up on) is that between Gabbert (QB project), Martin and the rumored interest in Toby Gerhart (Harbaugh/Stanford guys), it looks like Harbaugh and Baalke are working together, at least to a certain extent. So reports of strife between them are probably overblown.

Can't hurt to take a look. Fits the classic Baalke reclamation project (former high pick with good measurables who's disappointed in his first stop). Wouldn't offer him much more than the minimum though.

I expect us to add a veteran corner in FA and at least one more with a round 1 or 2 pick. Let them duke it out for opportunities.

Seahawks CB Walter Thurmond III will visit the 49ers after leaving Jacksonville without a contract.

Not a big fan of signing any of these WR's. Maybe on a one year deal, but I'd prefer to let Patton and a couple rookies get some chances, so we know what we have after the year. The most annoying thing about the team being so deep is that we barely see the draft picks play.
