Did I mention I was mad the Niners didn't draft EJ Gaines? That was some low-hanging fruit Baalke missed. :(

Bradley Roby played very well today from what I was hearing.

Martavius Bryant, Brandin Cooks and a lot of the usual suspects at WR played well today. Ray is right; Niners missed a lot of WR talent in the draft (still pissed about Moncrief).

Ellington instead of Bryant is gonna be the big what if...

Aaron Lynch makes some of those missed opportunities feel much better. 31 other teams are kicking themselves for passing on that dude. :)

Marcus Martin clearly wasn't ready to play last week; he was shoved into the starting lineup RIGHT after he came back from injury out of necessity. He was 10 times better today, and he's only gonna get better. I'm thrilled to have him.

It never made sense, but I've got to say Ellington making the 53 man roster was impressive IMO. I was really low on Ellington because he's a short receiver that catches the ball with his body. Kind of feel like he's just one of Roman's faves and he keeps him around for no reason whatsoever.

O'dell Beckham has been the biggest surprise of the year. He might rip us for 150 tomorrow. I always felt like he has shied away from the moment in college. He hasn't had a crucial game defining play yet, but we'll see how does tomorrow in a game I expect to be very close.

Lol...how many balls do you think Bryant would have caught in our high-flying passing offense?

Yeah, I didn't think so.

You can say the same for Calvin Johnson in this offense. Big, fast, beats defenses over the top, but Roman and Harbs will find away to play to the 49er's weaknesses. They don't understand the concept of feeding a WR/RB when he's on

Incomparable. Calvin Johnson dropped 1200+ yards with Dan Orlovsky at QB. He's QB/system transcendent.

Put Bruce Ellington on the Steelers and he looks better. Put Martavis Bryant with the 49ers and he looks worse.

Ellington on the Steelers would just look like a slower Dri Archer. Marcus Wheaton who many people on this forum had a draft crush on looks like another guy for Pitt. Marvatis Bryant I had as the 4th rated receiver after Watkins, Evans, Robinson is clearly a special player. Probably would have been inactive still if on the 49ers, because of our incompetent staff--if I'm being honest.

Lol, Archer can barely get a release off the line. They're nothing alike. You just see two smaller/fast WRs and assume they're similar, but that's completely untrue.

What do you see in Ellington? He's certainly not a downfield threat.

Just remembered that I compared O'dell Beckham to Emmanuel Sanders last year, I wonder if people would still hate that comparison now.

I can see him developing into a Doug Baldwin-type in a more pass-friendly system with a QB that knows how to make it beyond the 2nd read.

I can't imagine that, mainly because Doug plays bigger than his size

Ellington I think has potential to be a good WR, maybe not great. Obviously with this offensive staff- namely Roman, I am not too sure what the long term potential is, but luckily Roman likely won't be around after this season. Quinton Patton is another WR with potential.

If Harbaugh is still around next year, I expect Roman to be here. We'll see, but we've needed some changes at some spots, and Harbaugh has never shown much willingness to fire members of his staff. He appears to be loyal to a fault.

Yep. In that case it would be bring on Jim Tomsula. But if that happens, would Fangio stay on? I would hate to lose him.

This really does seem like a ridiculous class for WR talent. If we take Sammy Watkins out of it, who is everyone's favorite?

I like Moncrief, Bryant, Davante Adams, Evans...but if I can only pick one, I'd take Odell. He just looks so smooth out there and he can go up and snatch the ball, too. Very fluid athlete and nice route runner.
Giggity, giggity!
