Niners @ Broncos Game Week Thread

Post#1 » by MHSL82 » Tue Oct 14, 2014 10:16 pm

I didn't see a thread for this yet, we didn't have one last week, and we won the last time I created a Game Week Thread. So, thought I'd start one off (and I was right, I did! ;) ).

I'm way more hopeful than confident for this one because it has all the ingredients of a bad game.

Short week on the road against an SB contender with a great offense and now Willis looks like he'll be out. Just looks like we'll be too short handed on defense to be able to manage the Broncos offense.

I still think it's a winnable game but we'll need to win TOP which means we'll need to run the ball well. The other issue is hopefully Kap can break the chain of having a poor game following a great game.

I think maybe the offense can carry them through this one, call me crazy.

I haven't wanted the Niners to destroy a team in the regular season as badly as I do this week in a long time. Jerk face Peyton signing with Denver instead of SF cost the Niners rings. :curse: I'm glad he's been choketastic in the postseason, and I hope the Niners put the hurt on him Sunday.

Honestly...I'm always faithful in the 9ers but this one just screams loss. I would love for everybody to put this quote in their sigs if the Niners do win but I mean coming off a short week against the Rams where Patrick Willis got hurt, Vernon Davis is still banged up & having to travel from St. Louis to Denver & missing 3 of our top defensive players, I just don't see us winning but I damn sure want us too tho, **** Peyton

Once again, defense will be the deciding factor IMO...

Can't expect a shutout but surely we can limit them off the scoreboard.... lots of new guys playing.... I hope we can see Dial and Tank.... pressure upfront is essential and why not?

I'd pick them to beat Denver on the road if we were fully stacked with Bowman, Willis, and Aldon. Obviously a much tougher task without them. Denver's defense has looked good so far this year, but they haven't played a great offense (other than Indy)- so its possible their stats are inflated a little bit.

We need to dominate in the trenches this game, get a couple turnovers, and then we have a shot.

I said the defense will be the deciding factor bcuz I believe our offense will roll and be fine out there.... hopefully the running game stays the path and keeps peyton off the field as much as possible...

and walking away with 7s would be nice.

From ESPN:

Including the playoffs, the 49ers have gone 14 straight road games without allowing more than 2 passing touchdowns, tied for the longest active streak in the NFL.

I'd feel a heck of a lot better about our chances of winning, that's for sure. Though my fantasy team would take a decided hit.

I'm not sure if anybody else has confirmed this as I'm not QUITE in the loop on breaking news as I used to be with these 49ers but Ed Werder said about an hour or so ago that Harbaugh said today that Willis' toe injury is not turf toe and it's not a serious, long-term injury.

Adam Caplan also confirmed in the same ESPN telecast that Tramaine Brock's has been diagnosed as turf toe and that he'll be out this week still but that the hope is he'll be able to return after the bye.

I heard harbaugh say that on knbr this morning. He said that all the injuries last game were not long term. And said Willis didn't have turf toe.

Brock and A. Davis were at practice, at least in a limited role. Getting either/both back would be pretty huge this week. If Brock can come back - and I'm not expecting it - it would allow us to kick Cox inside and go with Brock and Cully outside. That would be a big boost for this D heading into a game against Manning.

I think maiocco said Davis has a better chance of playing this week than Brock.

Manning has thrown 5 TDs in 4 career games vs. the 49ers. That's the fewest TDs he has vs. any other opponent.

He also has more career INTs vs. SF than career TDs, per ESPN.
