Some teams overpaid, as they do every year. People question Matt Kaleel's deal, because there shouldn't have been much of a market for him.

Same thing with what Okung got.

The Ringer guys said that they were intrigued with the 49ers signing that FB but that they don't see why the team gave him that much, as other teams weren't probably going to pay that kind of money for a FB.

I can see Jeffrey not agreeing to any multi-year deal that wasn't huge. He's been a #1 receiver, but last year was a down year. If he can play through 16 games this upcoming year, his value will be higher. Pryor is kind of in the same ballpark since he's only had one season, and it was playing for a team that was trailing a lot. How legit is he really? That said, as you note, given his paydays to date, I'd think he would have at least considered a longterm deal. Especially if it meant a shot at the Julio Jones role in Shanahan's offense. The good news is that he'll be available next year, and should develop a relationship with what may be our QB of the future.

Yayyyyy Frisco is signing replacement caliber players across the board and not improving the talent base. Everybody rejoice!!!!!

Armed with a mountain of money, Excuse me for having a little higher hopes than this group of unwantedness being brought in.

Also, as I mentioned earlier you make these kind of fringe roster worthy player signings who may or may not be familiar with the system several weeks into free agency. If you can't see the significance in the timing of the signings, I can't help you.

Also, you bring in "bodies" in the form of UDFA's and veterans who are on the street in August.

Are we really going to be surprised if all 4 of those guys mentioned aren't on the 53?

This is incoherent. Clearly some of these signings are improving the talent base.
They aren't just signing guys who aren't familiar with the system. Lots of the guys are. I count three out of 9 that aren't. Bark, Juice and Goodwin.

Exactly wtf difference does waiting weeks make on signing these guys? Are you crying over the cost?
The significance in signing them now means you have them. You know all these guys are available weeks from now? GTFO

Training camp starts in July. But lets wait until August to sign guys. LOL. Wouldn't be nice to have your QBs working on their own with WRs beforehand either.

Again, Who cares how many guys make the 53. What exactly were we prevented from doing by signing them?

Seriously find something else to complain about.

We still have roughly $50M+ in salary cap space. Lets wait folks so we have money to spend on nothing. OK.

All your sopohomoric sensitivity to someone not agreeing with your views aside,

I need to hear an argument that Aldrick Robinson and his 52 catches in 50 games, Marquise Goodwin and his 49 catches in 39 games, Logan Paulsen a 30 year old blocking specialist TE are talent upgrades. I can't even say for without a shadow of a doubt that Barkley is better than Gabbert.

Make your case, I'm listening...

The sensitive one is yourself. You need a box of **** tissues. You are complaining just to complain. It's sad.

Name me two WRs on the roster other than Kerley before we signed Aldrick and Goodwin who had better numbers?

Anyone that complains about overpaying is really flat out wasting their time and just trying to again, complain for the sake of complaining. THERE IS LITERALLY NOTHING WE ARE PREVENTING OURSELVES FROM DOING BUY PAYING THESE GUYS! We still have $50M plus this year alone.

We aren't strapped up to the cap limit needing to extend guys like Malcom Butler and Kirk Cousins for crying out loud. Seriously find something else to complain about. Something that actually makes sense like the fact that Malcolm Smith was horrible last season. That I can understand.

There were at least two other teams in the bidding for Juice. Guess what? We beat them. Guess what else? He's not going to play as just a blocking FB. So don't look at the numbers and winge about that.

He will get tagged.

We gotta be going after Cousins or JG.

More like $6 million for this year for Pryor, with $2 million in unlikely to be reached incentives. Damn. Wonder what we could have gotten him for on a longterm deal. I'm really surprised there wasn't more of a market for him.

Lol, its looking like you aren't even reading the posts your are responding to.

Never once have I said that my disapproval with the signings I have talked about had to do with any financial related reasoning whatsoever.

Have fun arguing with the strawman you created.

Damn, only 6 guaranteed?

I would have LOVED getting him on something like 3/$25 mil with the first two years fully guaranteed. From the looks of it, that just might have gotten it done.

So you couldn't come up with guys on the roster that were better?
And they can still add scrubs and UDFA.

Kyle very clearly said that Garcon was the priority not Jeffery or Pryor.

Still throwing out money related arguments when I clearly pointed out to you I haven't mentioned any financial related reasoning that influenced my opinion on the signings. You're precious, bro.

You must be dense.
I'm allowed to respond to multiple things mentioned in the thread in one post, it ain't all about you precious. I just pointed this out. You know the part where I said I'm talking about money because someone mentioned the talk of people complaining about it. Duh.
Did I say you, nope.

I did ask for you to name the WRs on the roster other than Kerley that are better than Goodwin and Robinson. So far, crickets.

You also know that the forum format allows you to make multiple posts in a thread, thus allowing you to not having to write every thought you have inside a post where you have quoted a particular post/person, right?

Patton and Streater have had better production in their careers than Robinson/Goodwin. Since the idea is to upgrade the talent base from what you had on the field last season not whats currently on the roster prior to free agency/the draft, I'd say they are at best lateral moves.

I mean lets be frank here, we are talking about guys who very well may be legitimately on the roster bubble yet I'm outlandish and "complaining just to be complaining" by questioning those being good signings?

As for prioritizing Garcon over the other WR's, great they got their guy. Its the one signing I'm actually happy with. However, I think everybody is in agreement that WR needs a massive boost, so why not go after the other big fish as well? Its not like Garcon is a similar player to Jeffrey or Pryor.

I can do whatever I like. It's not my fault you didn't understand. "Anyone" is not "you" in my book. Especially when there are posts in the thread pertaining to money that I'm entitled to respond to. Did you post that? No, so stfu about it already.

You'd have to ask Kyle. Maybe he doesn't like their mental side of things. Maybe he doesn't like their fit. Maybe he wants Garcon playing the X.

That would be me sir! On the other hand, Sick hates him with a passion. Just as much as he hated Vince Young.

Drew Stanton 2.0????

I actually liked Stanton coming in. I don't absolutely hate Barkley. He's sort of been about what I expected in some ways. I don't love the signing because I'd like to see somebody who I think has a higher ceiling even if it's riskier; granted nailing down somebody that fits with all that and your system specifically is certainly harder than most fans think. I just hope he's never above 3rd position. I would not want to rely on him as the backup, though. I would hope to see somebody I like better for that spot. Could I be wrong on him as a backup? Sure, but I don't think so.

I think some people play madden too much. Pryor and Alshon likely signed 1 year deals by choice. Pryor because after only 1 good year teams weren't ponying up the the mega buck multi year contract...so he signs a 1 year betting on himself to cash in next year. Alshon has had issues so his thinking might be tge same. The Niners are in the midst of rebuilding. They need folks to build around not 1 year rentals. Its true the Niners haven't gone out spending like Dan Snyder and signing bug names to oooh and ahh the fanbase.. They have signe some blue chip pieces. I like most of the signings and if they don't work out they have money to bring more folks in.

Its way to early for all this omg they aren't sogning x superstar... Jusczyk is a pro bowl Valuber player as is Garcon. Goodwin and Aldrick are at least a wash ig not upgrades from Patton and Streater. Smith and Coyle are good depth at LB and cant be worse than Bellore or Skov. Hoyer and Barkley can be a solid bridge to the next qb. Paulsen is competition at te. I admit they aren't as sexy as getting bouye, poe, Williams Hankins etc... But the Niners are filling holes and its early in free agency and before even the draft. Take a breath and let see how the plan develops. The Niners are a multiple year rebuild project even had theu signed all the big sexy names this year.

Return to San Francisco 49ers
