Game 5: Colts vs Seahawks

VS.

On the Road again!

The Colts are a surprisingly strong team who built fast and can catch teams off guard. People pointed to Jacksonville as a trap game, but I would peg this as a game with just enough meh to the opponent and in a 2nd straight road game to give us concern.

Injury update:

DT Jordan Hill (biceps)
SS Jeron Johnson (hamstring)

LB K.J. Wright (shoulder)

Colts

S LaRon Landry (ankle)
LB Bjoern Werner (foot)

Probable
CB Vontae Davis (foot)
S Delano Howell (toe)
OG Hugh Thornton (shoulder)

Danny's .02 Keys to the game

1. Patchwork O-lines growth
We need Lemuel to do a better job of the snaps and we need Bowie to make more consistent pass blocks or RW3 is gonna stay sore or worse. Sherman called Wilson Houdini... hopefully no one punches him in the gut.

2. LOB VS Luck
Dang- how good has our secondary been this year? Classic matchup here and one that will be greatly influenced by...

3. Bennet, McDonald, Iriving, Avril, and Clem
Nice to see all those guys running after the apposing QB. If they can keep the pressure on the LOB should make some plays on the hurry throws, but this means...

4. LB's in the read
They have been great in the read situations this year. They just need to keep covering the short routes and spotting the runs early enough to minimize the kind of things that hurt us vs Houston in the first half.

Predictions-
Seattle 27 Colts 17

Too much negativity in the local media about who's going to win this game. I think too many people think "we're due" to lose a game on the road, but I think this team's turned their road fortunes around completely. Our line may still be a bit of a patchwork affair, but Indy's defensive line is also a bit banged up. Luck's a fantastic QB and our LB corps has to do a better job of covering TEs in the seams.

The Seahawks offense has been great so far but the Seahawks defense has been even better. Still too early to call the game but it is looking good

Kind of funny that the Colts coach is happy his team is called for a safety

My goodness--I know it's early but we are dominating all facets of the game: Offense, defense, special teams. We've got the ball back again after a blocked punt returned for a safety. This team is amazing. They're using Russell as a running weapon just as they did in the second half, and I like it when they do that.

I agree. The threat Wilson could take off forces opposing defenses to have to prepare for it and the more weapons the better

19-14 hawks.

the offense looks really, really good. outside of one long pass play, so is the defense.

If that's PI, then every pass play is PI. Horrible call.

love having irvin back.

less enthused about letting indy off the hook with that PI.

i did enjoy one of the announcers mentioning seattle getting killed by the pundits for taking irvin @ #15, after the sack. draft grades always annoy the crap out of me. "seattle definitely needed a speed rusher in the first round, but that's not the speed rusher I'D take so i'm going to give them a poor, arbitrary letter grade..."

and those same pundits are silent after irvin comes through with a fine rookie season. 8 sacks as a part-timer, no?

22-17, 9:28 left in the 3rd.

clemons forces a luck fumble. no pun there, but we were lucky they didn't get clemons for a blow to luck's head.

Clemons with a huge strip sack fumble! Seahawks' ball!

I find the only time I like draft grades is when we get a high grade as it provides hollow instant gratification. Call it confirmation bias if you will.

I really like the idea of using Irvin as a LB/DE hybrid as they are doing. I think he looks good in run support and pass coverage.

25-17, we get a field goal out of it.

settling for three a lot when we approach the redzone. racking up yardage, but not as many points as i'd like. to indy's credit, they play really good defense.

80 rushing yards for RW, after 77 last week.

I think we are a better team with Walter Thurmond on the outside instead of Brandon Browner. Browner was just beaten very badly for a TD.

Ugh, what a shame Lynch couldn't catch that pass. A TD here would have given us some breathing room. At least Hauschka has been lights out with his FG attempts.

its like watching a pac-12 game with these PI calls today. when in doubt/can't see the play, throw the flag!

awful TO usage today, some of it really simple personnel stuff. training camp stuff.

How do you burn all your timeouts with more than 8 minutes to go in the 4th quarter? Now you can't stop the clock AND you can't challenge anything. Great job.
