Here's a good breakdown. Why Geno is a better fit in this offense.

I'll take paying more than we thought we would for this level of play... i mean how big a contract might he get at this rate?

If he keeps playing this well he could demand somewhere in the neighborhood of $25-30 mil per year. Either way he's looking at a huge raise.

I think I'd be okay with giving him a 2 or 3 year deal assuming he keeps playing well. An added plus of not having to play a rookie right away.

He's gonna get closer to 40m a year if he keeps this up and takes them on a playoff run. He's been Allen and Mahomes good. I'm happy to see it honestly. I hated Wilson and everything about him. Appointments to have a conversation with him? I love how Geno was written off and he just kept working. That game against the Lions I watched and he was actually incredible. Seahawks gonna be a serious threat for a while yet just on his back. I'm pretty confident in that. He's really really good.

Undefeated since my wife bought me the #7. If you told me 2 months ago that i'd be rocking a Geno Smith jersey this season, I would've laughed!

Geno's Future

I keep thinking that the Hawks should NOT use the exclusive tag to keep Geno. That's because he's not worth the cost of the exclusive tag, however put him on a team like Tennessee and he's a game changer. I would use the Non-exclusive tag instead and either get him for less...or get 2 first round picks.
He's going to be worth that to someone but not the Hawks. Keep Lock as your bridge QB and up the Russ return by another 2 picks. Take Stroud at 2 over all let him sit half of next year and pour draft capital into the defense and O-line. The temptation is to put the exclusive on Geno and grab that blue chip guy for the defense, but I don't think that makes the Hawks a contender. Lock nearly beat Geno out for the QB spot anyway(hindsight what it is that would have been a disaster). Use your second 1st and 2 seconds to put C.J. in the best position possible and enter the following year as the most interesting young team in the league.
I just don't see Seattle getting another chance to get a guy as highly rated as Stroud.
Thoughts?

I'm a fan of Stroud myself. But I'm just not sure the team will go that direction. Every indication is that they fully envision Geno as the guy.

I've suggested that they resign Geno to a shorter deal (2-3 years) or tag him for a year, while also picking Stroud & have him sit for a year. That wouldn't be the worst outcome.

As far as what he's worth around the league? I don't see another team giving up picks for him. His highest value would be with Seattle.

Assuming they pass on Stroud, and add a defensive playmaker with Denver's pick, they could take a gamble on someone like an Anthony Richardson later on in the draft. But he would need to sit for a year or two at minimum. Teams are going to fall in love with his tools. But he still needs a ton of work as a passer.
