Dunno if you got an answer yet, but it was bad base running.

That is the way our lineup should look (almost) every game. I loved the changes:

Adam Jones in left
Jose Vidro at second
Broussard at first
Ibanez at DH

It was beautiful.

Ehhh...I'm still very much on the fence about Vidro at second defensively.

Which is better....300 hitting 2B with poor defense or .260 hitting 2B with perfectly fine defense? I think I prefer starting Lopez, benching Vidro, and having him on the bench for situations where we could use a switch-hitter.

We've been a streaky ballclub. I honestly wouldn't mind us leaving Vidro out there for an extended period of time and seeing how we play offensively AND defensively. I dont Vidro is as poor in the field as you make him seem. Obviously, he's no Jose Lopez, but he can still hold his own.

Although, to be picky, I'd probably like to see Vidro get some burn at first base, especially with the way Sexson has been playing. Because, lets face it, Adam Jones wont get much PT unless Vidro is playing the field because I doubt we sit Ibanez much the rest of the way. His experience and track record is too important to the team, and he's finally swinging the bat well.

yeah, making us feel awesomely great for a stretch of 5 games and then feeling absolutely miserable for the next 5 games.

what's vidro's history at 1B? he's been hitting pretty well for the last weeks, i don't think it would be a good thing to sit him.

We've been a streaky ballclub. -Wow that's a understatement.I still just love this club WIN OR LOSE. They have been fun no doubt. All is right in the world when your team is playing the way our M's have been!

The difference is 100 points of OPS. Vidro is about 760 and Lopez is down below 660. Since the all-star break, Lopez's line is .167/.191/.189 (you read that right: an OPS of .380). At minimum he needs some time off to figure things out.

On the flipside, I recently read that Lopez is on track to break the team record for fielding percentage by a second baseman. That's impressive, as the M's have had some pretty distinguished fielders at that position over the years (Cruz, Reynolds, Cora, Boone).

Of course, Lopez's offensive struggles correspond precisely to the time I've had to have him in my fantasy lineup. I had some injuries (I.Kinsler and B.Hall), and Lopez went into my lineup. I really suffered for it. Kinsler and Hall are both back, but I need Hall to play 3B for me while E.Chavez and H.Blalock are both on the DL. Lopez remains my only active backup middle infielder, so I'll be in trouble if there are more injuries.

Egad, man. Please tell me you have positional strength elsewhere.

I have positional strength elsewhere. Peavy and Oswalt as my 1-2 pitchers; Helton, Konerko and D.Lee as my corner infielders; B.Roberts as my other middle infielder; Vladdy and A.Dunn in the outfield. My team is underachieving for the most part -- among the players I listed, Dunn and Peavy (and maybe Roberts) are the only ones living up to their career norms -- but I'm still in 6th place out of 12. No thanks to Lopez.
