Wayns Waived

Unless there is a trade or signing (Bynum) coming, looks like Wayns and his agent didn't get any consideration for re-working the deadline of his contract guarantee, especially when you consider that Stephen Jackson is still on the roster for now. I guess they can still sign him to 10-day contracts afterwards.

good we are finally off the hook to free up a roster spot. 10 day deals will be fine until our starting guards return, then we can add a rotational big to come off the bench with it.

I've seen comments about Delonte West on other Clipper fansites but have not discerned where they originated from, so I have no idea myself, but Doc did reportedly say that he was looking at (presumably former NBA) players in the Chineses Basketball Association who can opt out of their contracts early. West is playing in the CBA, but according to the report below, it says he can't come over until their season concludes in February. I don't know if that takes into account their playoffs and if his team gets eliminated early or whatnot.

Chris Haynes, Comcast Sportsnet (10/1/13)
Free agent guard Delonte West has signed a one-year deal with Fujian Xunxing of China, a source informed CSNNW.com.

West, 30, will have the opportunity to latch onto an NBA team once the Chinese Basketball Association's season concludes in February.

Wayns apparently wasn't an option because he just wasn't ready to play being out of gameshape and still hobbling from his injury.

Some names I'm hearing:

- Pierre Jackson (requires trade, Pelicans hold his draft rights)
- Dee Bost (Idaho Stampede)
- Eric Dawson (Austin Toros)
- Delonte West (CBA)
- Jamaal Tinsley (Free agent)
- Bobby Brown (CBA)
- Shannon Brown (Free agent)
- Jorge Gutierrez (2013 FIBA America Gold Medalist/Canton Charge)
- Hedo Turkoglu (Recently waived)
- Chris Duhon (Free agent)
- Baron Davis (Free agent)
- Gilbert Arenas (Free agent)

Somebody on Twitter suggested bringing back Chauncey Billups. Because Billups left as a free agent and not a trade piece, the Clippers can get him back by way of trade. He fits perfectly under the Eric Bledsoe TPE.

Bobby Brown Making Sweet Music

With previous talk of Doc looking at the possibility of players getting out of their contracts early with the Chinese Basketball Association, it looks like the target was actually Bobby Brown instead of Delonte West.

STUCK IN THE RED: Brown locked into Chinese team deal

Timing is everything, as they say, and the timing is tough for Bobby Brown at the moment.

Despite all the NBA opportunity that has arisen from the endless rash of point guard injuries, and despite the fact that the 29-year-old is on the short list of worthy talents to fill one of the many voids, he can't get out of his contract with Dongguan in China until their season ends on Feb. 16. Brown hasn't played in the NBA since 2010, but anyone who pays attention to the famed Drew League in Los Angeles during the summer months knows that he's an NBA talent.

In China, he's nothing short of a star, as he's averaging 31.9 points and 5.8 assists per game. The Clippers, who are likely without point guard Chris Paul until after the mid-February All-Star break because of a shoulder injury, are known to have interest in Brown.

NBA A to Z: Is the coaching hot seat completely empty?

Here are also some names from the NBDL that have stood out in their recent showcase:

Bobby Brown won't be available to sign until after February 16th since he is committed in China until then. Depending on the recovery of Chris Paul at that time, Brown would look like a more appealing option to Doc than Wayns as Collison's backup. He'd take Maalik Wayns' spot on the roster rather than be added to it.

Why can't this team look to take chances on young bigs though?
