Maggette is like crack

Post#1 » by RiversideClips » Sat Nov 1, 2014 2:26 am

I was at the game last night & didn't see "Spaghetti Maggetti" doing pre game, I just started watching and there he is. Maggette is one of the guys that made me buy Season Tickets 11 years ago & even in lean years kept me re-upping my tickets.
What a brilliant move by Clipper management to bring in Corey, he may not be fantastic right now, but he is part of my "CLIPPER DREAM TEAM." Yeah, I could watch this guy selling Clipper BBall b/c he helped market that brand.
Corey, glad to have you, good luck w/ your new gig, I know that you will succeed. Maggette hooked me on Clipper basketball & I am sure he will "hook me" on the telecasts.

Maggette and Q-Rich were my favorites growing up.

Remember when there used to be legitimate debates over whether Cat Mobley or Maggs deserved the majority of minutes at the 3? Maggs was so promising back then that the Kings seriously considered trading prime Artest for him.

Those were the days.... now whoever the least scrubbish SF is gets handed the starting role by default. :banghead:

Maggette was a favorite of mine in his days here and I'm happy that he's back with the organization in some way. I'd love to have Cat back in some capacity, but don't know if he's interested. He still shows up to games occasionally though.

In the 2006 season, when Maggs was hurt, he joined Ralph and Mike during a game and seemed like a natural.

I guess Cat has kept his Bel Air home.

I love maggette as a person. But you guys are looking at history with rose colored glasses. He was one of the most frustrating players we've ever had. Despite his physique, he never put real effort into rebounding (made even more frustrating by the denver playoff series where he showed he could rebound if he wanted)

and thats not even taking into account his horrible defense and him having one of lowest basketball IQs out there. For example, how many times did Dunleavy call a timeout to draw up a play only for maggette to come out and have no clue whats going on? That was a nightly occurrence. It was a sad day when we traded Mobley and he was forced to retire :(

I remember that potential trade for Artest well. Pretty sure it was called off because Maggette got injured right before the discussions broke down by stepping on Chris Wilcox's foot and rolling his ankle :nonono:

I'll always remember him for those his elite free throw games (15-16, 9-10, etc), as well as his signature "oh!!!" when he put his head down and barrelled his way down the paint looking for contact, lol.

that Artest for Maggette proposal was out of stupidity. as much as i loved Corey, he had absolutely no defense. he was the biggest defensive liability he had at that time, while giving us no 3 range. he was a machine when it came to putting his head down and drive in to get fouled and had the body that Mike Smith always drooled over, but RonRon at the time was, and eventually became, a much better player.
ehhhhh f it.

Sad day indeed. Corey Maximus was that dude back in the day. Wish he still had something left in the tank we could sure use him right now

This is true. Really, Maggette was like the prototype version of James Harden (who I can't stand). Still a million times better than any small forward we've had since he left.

Wait, what does this mean? Did OP see him at a game? LOL.

I remember being at Staples yelling at Gentry along with other Clipper fans to put Corey in, his rookie season. Back then he was all potential and excitement like the other young Clips, only later did he become Bad Porn...

he could get to the free throw line any time he wanted, too bad his B-BALL IQ was low.
