Los Angeles Clippers Pres Release (11/6/14)
The Los Angeles Clippers today announced Gillian Zucker as the club’s new President of Business Operations. A sports industry veteran who was named one of the top five most powerful women in motorsports by MSN and FOX, Zucker comes to the Clippers after spending nine years as the President of Auto Club Speedway, the largest race track on the West Coast.

“I am extremely happy to add a leader like Gillian to our team,” Clippers Owner Steve Ballmer said. “Her clear and creative business vision, innovative approach to marketing and experience working in the Los Angeles sports market make her the perfect fit to lead the Clippers during this transcendent time.”
...

Before joining ISC, Zucker worked in Minor League Baseball, serving as Assistant General Manager of the Durham (NC) Bulls. A graduate of Hamilton College, Zucker serves on the board of the California Chamber. She was appointed by the Governor to the California Travel and Tourism Commission, and also serves at the request of Mayor Eric Garcetti, as a Los Angeles Convention Center Commissioner. Other board roles include the Los Angeles Sports Council, the Los Angeles Sports and Entertainment Commission Advisory Board, Young Presidents Organization and the Los Angeles Recreation and Parks Foundation.

WTF??? I really hope they know what they're doing and this wasn't some PR move to appease our female fans.

why, you had someone else in mind?

those credentials seem to speak for themselves unless you think the press release is just trying to blow smoke up our collective asses.

this is all you need to hear.

Gillian Zucker, who comes with a pretty hefty resume that includes many different and diverse stops, versus Andy Roeser the Brown Noser.

Does anybody in their right mind could possibly say Gillian is lesser than Roeser?

hell just by looking at the resume, she is already far better than Jeanie Buss as well.

She may not have phD in economics from Berkley, but she will do fine. I am actually loving this. Both my beloved Dodgers and Clippers are breaking the mold and boldly hiring a woman and a muslim because they QUALIFY and is simply a head and neck above other candidates that may look the part. I LOVE it.
ehhhhh f it.

yep.

btw, reminds me for a story. my first econ course at ucla we had this guest professor who had phd's, masters, and everything else you could think of out the wazoo. and as much of that as she had, she had close to no ability to teach or get her message across. i remember getting a 23/100 on the final and having it be curved out to a C cause everyone was so out of it.

zucker sounds like a real win with tons of success and application in just about everything she's done. hard to top that.

First off, congrats to Ms. Zucker and welcome to the Clipper family. I just watched the press conference video on the team's website, and she basically said that she at least for now, she's going to feel things out before she puts her stamp on things. One thing for sure...more than likely, she would have never been hired by the previous regime.
