I actually saw one of Thorton he was at a desk signing jersey's I closed the window to it so someone has to dig to find it.

I would really like a Starters picture similiar to the Heat.

Hmmm. I like the pics a lot. We look real good. I wonder if the Clips are still going to have the open practice like they had in SB at their new state of the art facility. What do you think?

Love the pics. Love how out of place Kaman looks amongst them, too.

Here's FSN reporter Michael Eaves write up of the day, a pretty good read:

Thanks JJ. That was a nice little write-up. I'm glad to hear that everybody was upbeat and that they're all optimistic.

I would have loved to have read some quotes from Mobley, Kaman & Thornton on their thoughts on the upcoming season, new acquisitions and the new facility.

It does look like he's been hitting the weights over the summer.

It's a shame that all Q got offered from Memphis was a non guaranteed deal. I remember hearing from some NBA player that Q is one of the toughest defenders in the NBA, right behind Bowen and Artest. I don't see anything wrong with Q trying to get a better deal but I really think he is being under valued by many NBA teams. I'm sure as time goes on he'll be more of a house hold name. That's how most of these great defenders get started, they're not really noticed in the beginning.

I'm a big defensive guy so I wish that we could have kept him.

I was as big a Q Ross supporter as they come. I even think Dunleavy's decision to play him ahead Maggette was justifiable...but his D has gone downhill in recent years and if he thought he was going to get a huge contract this offseason, he should get a new agent. I wonder if the Clippers offered him anything at all. I'm guessing they did since he's a Dunleavy guy and Dun pretty much made Ross' career so far.

Q & Shaun actually had the same agent at one point, but I think Q switched this offseason. Clips did make an offer to Ross, but they were "far apart" in their negotiations.

Who grabbed the check at the Clippers' team dinner on Monday night?

It wasn't rich man, poor man eating dinner. More like rich men, richer men.

But it wasn't the $65-million man (Baron Davis) doing the honors.

"I picked up the check," Clippers Coach Mike Dunleavy said. "It was my meeting."

Smart guy.

Besides, there is a method to these things.

"That's what Coach is supposed to do," Davis said. "I'll get the team dinners on the road."

None of the rookies, including first-round draft pick Eric Gordon, was forced to test out the vocal chords or perform any other silly stunts at the dinner table. That, apparently, comes later. (Gordon, incidentally, lost about 10 pounds during the summer.)

This isn't to say the rookies aren't busy meeting the needs of the veterans in training camp.

Said Dunleavy: "I told them, 'You know what? In my day I had to carry the shot clock.' "

If you spot Gordon at a local Coffee Bean, the odds are that his order will take some time.

"I get about three or four players," Gordon said.

Who orders the most frou frou drink?

"Baron," Gordon said. "He gets more than everybody."

Presumably, Davis skips the whipped cream. That would be a definitive lane violation of the Jenny Craig diet.

A++++ post

Nice to know Baron and Dunleavy are working together to make sure the players are getting taken care of. I love the concept of Dunleavy buying home game food and baron on the road. Does Dunleavy have the money to be consistent in this though?
