2012 NFL Draft thread...

Post#1 » by Nemesis21 » Fri Apr 27, 2012 3:53 am

The Bucs selected S Mark Barron and RB Doug Martin in the 1st rd. Tampa traded down with the Jaguars to the 7th pick, gaining a 2012 4th and 5th rd pick. Tampa traded back in to the 1st rd at pick 31, costing them their 2012 2nd rd pick and the 4th rd pick they got from the Jaguars.

I like the Mark Barron pick. I think we needed some toughness and hard hitting on defense and he looks like he'll bring that. Hopefully Martin will bring some life to our back field.

The Bucs move up from the 68th pick(Rd 3) to pick 58(bottom Rd 2) in a trade with Houston, to select OLB Lavonte David.

GREAT draft by the Bucs so far. Still need to grab a CB, hopefully we trade back into the 3rd or Bradon Boykin falls to us.

Barron was the best player on the Tide defense for a couple of years.

Great pick.....Claiborne or barron would have solidified the secondary.

He almost fell to us in rd 5, the Eagles just picked him with 9 picks to go in rd 4.

Bucs select ILB Najee Goode WVU in the 5th rd.

All of a sudden Dominik and Schiano have forgot CB is a huge need.

CB's Dennard, Minnifield and Prater all would have been a better 5th rd pick for Bucs instead of Goode. SMH!

Bucs select CB Keith Tandy in rd 6.

The Bucs have two picks left, both in rd 7.

Bucs picked up CB Leonard Johnson from Iowa State as a UDFA he was pretty highly regarded being projected as a 4th rounder pre-draft.

Those worrying about CB don't forget they drafted a sleeper CB in Anthony Gaitor out of FIU last year. They should be pretty high on him, dude should develop into a beast. Dude has huge potential.

Bucs are going to still be in trouble with their corners. Just hope that the pass rush is going to live up to its potential. Liked the draft but was disappointed with the 5th and 6th round picks. Barron is very versatile and is definitely not going to be whiffing on tackles.

Talib and Eric Wright starting with Myron Lewis, Elbert Mack, and E.J. Biggers all cycling in and out. (all three are solid nickelbacks just not starters, like last year.) Along with the addition of Keith Tandy who they took in the 6th, who's player with good ball skills. CB seems to be pretty set in my eyes, If your wondering why Ronde wasn't included it because he's going to try and play safety this year.

Talib is good and is he going to be suspended? He is good but inconsistent when he is on he is one of better cornerbacks in the league. I am not to thrilled about the Eric Wright signing but he might prove me wrong. Myron Lewis needs to step it up this year and not get hurt every time he steps on to the field. EJ in the nickel role would be good. I would be okay with Ronde playing in the safety position but I would prefer Grimm. The secondary is far from good but if the pass rush is good enough they will survive.

His trial was delayed from March 2012 to June 2012.
