They were talking about him playing guard next to Trent, but if you take a guy #5 he's gotta fill that hole at RT IMO.

Gruden said he'll start at RT - which I think makes sense - especially with Moses still recovering from Lizfrank surgery. It wouldn't surprise if somewhere down the line he moves to guard.

At first, I thought this was a major reach pick, but it wasn't. The team picking 6th indicated they would have picked him, and the Giants picking 9th wanted him badly and ended up making a major reach for another O lineman.

I wouldn't be shocked if they pick a big guard on the 2nd or 3rd round. GMSM wants a BIG physical line. But I hope they get a pass-rushing LBer next.

Recap of all 10 picks:

http://www.redskins.com/news-and-events/article-1/Redskins-Bring-In-10-In-2015-Draft-Class/8b02f172-a86c-4ddb-918a-27cfb7b412f6

- Right tackle
- Pass rusher
- 3rd down back
- Slot reciever
- Core special teams guys

At least two starters (Scherff and Smith) and other guys who should make the team. I'm not complaining.

Here's an interesting article on La'el Collins's situation. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/20 ... s-cleared/

If he's cleared, he can sign a reasonable contract. Picturing him signing with the Skins - they could start him at RT and move Scherff to left guard. Imagine Trent Williams and Scherff on the same side on running plays. Oh, the carnage.

A few excerpts below on how the picks are doing. Read the entire article here:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/foo ... -sessions/

It’s hard to get a true idea of where Scherff stands because these are pad-free sessions and against other rookies – some of whom will not make the team. But, the 6-foot-5, 319-pounder did display good strength and athleticism. He was strong at the point of attack while run blocking, and also did well protecting the edge as he back-pedaled in pass coverage. During a one-on-one matchup against second-round pick Preston Smith, Scherff engaged and slid further to his right to keep Smith from getting around him. Smith tried dipping to the inside, and Scherff got into Smith’s chest, despite the pass-rusher’s long reach, and locked him up, preventing him from scoring on his countermove. In another matchup, however, Smith did do a good job of swimming around Scherff.

[Preston] Smith said he feels like going forward, he’ll be able to play faster than he appeared to play in college. Mississippi State played a number of teams with zone-read quarterbacks, so Smith had to play contain, and couldn’t get caught too deep into the backfield and risk giving up a running lane to the quarterback. He aims to prove that he has better explosiveness and pass-rushing skills than he displayed in school.

Running back Matt Jones’s size jumps right out at you as well. But another thing that’s impressive about the 6-2, 231-pounder is how well he moves in space. He ran crisp pass routes, shaking linebackers frequently and displayed good hands. (Should be noted that Jones is bigger than any of Washington’s receivers). Couple his pass-catching skill set with his power running style, and Jones certainly could see the field often as a rookie. Gruden maintained that Alfred Morris is the feature back when asked about it, but he does envision Jones taking some of the workload off of Morris’s shoulders.

We’ll see how he looks against the veterans, but fourth-rounder Jamison Crowder was pretty explosive on Saturday. Coaches describe him as fearless over the middle. He’s got strong hands, and shows good acceleration after the catch.

Sixth-round pick Kyshoen Jarrett worked at free safety. He seems to have a nose for the ball. He got turned around a couple times in coverage, but other times did a good job of reading the quarterback and receiver, and reacted in time to break up the pass, or make a sure stop.

Interesting revelation in hour 2 of the 5/18 Sports Fix podcast. Apparently, there was a deal on the table if Fowler had dropped to the Skins pick: #5 (Fowler) to Atlanta Falcons for #8 and other picks. Had that happened, the Jets would likely have taken Brandon Sherff at #6 over Leonard Williams (Skins apparently didn't know that at the time).

Who was next on the Skins board that they would then have taken at #8? Todd Gurley. :o Very interesting.

Don't know how I would feel about that move, the extra draft picks are great but all that movement just to take a running back? Especially one that tore his ACL. I probably would have taken White over Gurley.
Bickerstaff: who's up for kickball?!!
Ed Wood: Only if it's the no-pants variety.

Chester released last week. They must like the young O-line guys, which is a good sign.

Also heard that Duke Ihenacho has been the best strong safety so far. Forgot about him.

I was surprised to see that Duke is a year younger than Jeron Johnson - the short safety they got from Seattle that's competing for the starting spot. Goldson better have something in the tank at free safety. But ultimately, it'd be great to see Phillip Thomas develop much quicker than he has, so far.

Okay, we need a TE now. Options? Too bad we just missed out on Jermaine Gresham (who Gruden has history with).

Maybe a Cooley comeback? (No...I'm serious...)

Hee, I heard Cooley talking about a comeback a week ago. Hmm, maybe that's why he's been saying nice things about RG3 and Gruden... after totally destroying RG3 last year.
