I like Mike, I forgot how to spell his names after looking at all the spellings on here....lol I would like to see what he can do with this team, sooooooooooooooo thats why I play up tempo with the Lakers on 2K13 and I was pretty pleased, but thats just a game. I want PJ, Mike is great on one side of the ball but I love PJ, not because he's great on both sides of the ball but Kobe respects him and Howard will too. He can handle stars, Brown couldn't. Give Mike a break, the NYC thing wasn't all his fault. Melo didn't buy into playing the type of offense Mike wanted to play, before the Melo trade the Kicks were doing fine, they gutted that team for one player ans now the stars don't even play well together. Mike is a good coach just not what we need. I say send him to Houston or Portland........

The best comparison for D'Antoni's defense is this. Last year the Knicks were ninth in overall defensive efficiency when he was the head coach. They were top 3 if not #1 when he wash't, but here's the reason why. When Carmelo moved to the 4 and the 2-3 was Smith-Fields the defense vastly improved.

Amare is piss poor. Piss piss poor defensively. He is terrible. The Suns went from middle of the pack to atrocious under Terry Porter the year D'Antoni left Pheonix. The reason D'Antoni's teams suck on defense is personnel. The reason he didn't succeed in N.Y. is because the team never gave a PG based system a chance with the ball-hog Carmelo **** up at SF.

He's a good coach and regardless of how hard REALGM seems to love to slam the guy for this and that, the players on this L.A. offense are very different than the ones in N.Y. I think he quite frankly would work here, he'd keep Kobe off the ball, and with a good defensive assistant would be solid.

Nah, the Lakers would have still gone after Phil.

Messina would have taken Dunleavy's place in the replacement hierarchy.

Honestly after watching this Lakers game and seeing this offense look so free-flowing. A Mike Datoni offense may not look so bad

Well it isn't Phil, then I guess Dontoni would be the best option over Dunleavy. **** might as well give Nate an interview too

For what it's worth, JA Adande is also confirming it.

RT @jadande: Lakers won't have D'Antoni in place till later in the week; he's awaiting medical clearance post-knee surgery.

Blake's out of the rotation. He brings nothing in terms of pick and roll play and Duhon is a favorite of D'Antoni.

Actually the bench could work with Mike, Duhon-Meeks-Ebanks-Jamison-Hill

But... Gasol, World Peace... they don't fit in at all.

A trade is coming.

I can't blame the management for doing this if Phil really demanded what was reported.

Gasol's fine don't worry about him. It worked with Kurt Thomas-Amare. Gasol-Dwight are no slower.

I think they take some of the money they saved on Phil and sign Pietrus.

What happened to resuming talks with Phil on Monday? Why are we jumping the gun on this? I'm pissed.
