Sacramento Kings @ Los Angeles Lakers

Location: Cox Pavilion, Las Vegas, NV
Viewable: NBA SL Pass, NBA TV and ESPN3.com

Key Players: Lakers vs Kings

Lakers Roster:

2 DJ Strawberry (6-5 G)
3 Devin Ebanks (6-9 F)
4 Derrick Caracter (6-9 F/C)

7 Ibrahim Jaaber (6-2 G)
8 Gerald Green (6-8 F)
31 Rob Kurz (6-9 F)
34 Ben McCauley (6-9 F)
10 Cecil Brown (6-4 G)
32 Frank Robinson (6-4 G)
15 Tyler Sanborn (6-10 C)
44 Courtney Sims (6-11 C)

Kings
5 Ryan Thompson
9 Tyrese Rice
16 Connor Atchley
18 Omri Casspi
22 Dionte Christmas
41 Wayne Chism
15 Demarcus Cousins
30 Lee Cummard
25 Devan Downey
20 Donte Greene
55 Sylven Landesberg
23 Donald Sloan
33 Hassan Whiteside

Things to Watch for:

Devin Ebanks: Coming off his first poor shooting game of the season, everyone will be looking to see how Ebanks responds. This game will also present the most difficult defensive assignment that Devin has had to face (Omri Casspi). Equaling him in height, can Ebanks effectively stop the Israeli SF? Will Ebanks be able to avoid getting his shot blocked against the large Cousins and Whiteside?

Derrick Caracter: With Sacramento potentially starting two 7 footers, Caracter may have to guard Cousins. How will he do guarding the juggernaut that is Cousins 6'11" 270lb frame? Will he still be able to score inside against Whiteside's seven-foot frame and 5 bpg?

DJ Strawberry: DJ has moved up to the third most likely to make the team in my books. Will he be able to hit some knock down threes with the Kings locking down the lane? Can he continue to move within the offense like he did last game?

Ibrahim Jaaber: Jaaber comes off another okay performance, he seems unable to keep up with fast paced guards and run the offense at the same time. Will he come back and keep the Tri from getting stagnant against the tough interior D of the Kings?

Gerald Green: The Lakers keep sticking him out there, they want him to make the team, but does he care enough to try?

Courtney Sims: He plays a lot. I think the Lakers are trying to fill up the rest of there roster with summer league spots. If Sims can successfully guard Whiteside or Cousins, he could make a case for filling up Powell's spot.

Tyler Sanborn: Tyler is earning more minutes over Kurz as the back-up big. He is leading the team with 1.5 bpg, can he continue to be a defensive option against the size of Sac-Town?

NBA.com Rookie Rankings:
Derrick Caracter: 1 (Previously 2)
Devin Ebanks: 3 (Previously 1)

I upgraded DJ and downgraded Jaaber. Sims and Sanborn made the list because of there increased PT and potential big games against the very big Sacramento Kings.

Looking forward to seeing Caracter vs Cousins, and Ebanks vs Greene/Casspi. Should be a good game!

Demarcus Cousins started beef with Drew. Does Character care at all idk?- but i hope Derek outshines him. He will likely need to use his face up game and quickness.

Yeah, Caracter's size will be a huge issue right now.

G=K, plse change the time to Pacific time. Most Laker fans are on the west coast. And your roster is incomplete btw...

Anyway... looking forward to this game. the last game was just unwatchable. I hope this is much better.

Frantik - just subtract 3 hours. You should be fine.

This is a really big game for the two important guys on the roster. Casspi is a helluva player and will be a great test to see what Ebanks can do defensively against NBA quality talent.

Also a great measuring stick for Caracter to see if he can produce against his peers selected before him. Thus far he has outshined any of the big men in the draft. If he can do it again tonight, we might have a certified steal.

Gerald Green: The Lakers keep sticking him out there, they want him to make the team, but does he care enough to try?

You act like he's played 25+ mpg in the last 3. He's done fairly well in the minutes he's gotten except game 1. The question is, "Can Chuck Person coach?"

You must not see him stand in the corner and jack a shot when he gets the ball, or try to drive and bounce the ball off his foot, or stand there and get blown by on defense by Coby Karl and Andy Rautins. After 5 or 6 years in the league, you should be able to stick on a team, there is a reason that as this kid gets older - he plays less and less in the NBA.

Athleticism can only get you so far in the NBA... You got to have some basketball common sense.

Green is lucky he is even on a summer league squad....he is just terrible, his shot selection sucks, can't really get to the rack, horrible defender.

2 games left, today and Thursday. Let's see if these guys can get a win, our key guys have been playing well but we've clearly been outmatched talent wise overall.
Thank you, Phil.

He's had 4, eh 2 meaningful years in the league. He doesn't have the basketball IQ yet but I bet with the right coaching staff can learn. Green has been trying not to force anything on offense. Tell me, when he jacks up a shot does it go in?
