rockets facilitating a trade where they end up with bynum, magic with picks/youth, and the lakers howard would be awesome. would make more sense for the rockets since they get a player that they can actually re-sign. makes more sense for the magic since they get a ton of picks instead of a player they apparently don't want in bynum.

“But you have to understand what was going on then. Everybody kept waiting for Magic to die. Every time he’d run up the court everybody would feel sorry for the guy, and he’d get all that benefit of the doubt. Magic came across like, ‘All this is my stuff.’ Really? Get outta here, dude. He was on the declining end of his career.”

Drexler had played exquisitely in the 1992 All-Star Game in Orlando, although the MVP award eventually went to Magic, who had been added by Commissioner Stern as a special thirteenth player to the Western Conference roster. “If we all knew Magic was going to live this long, I would’ve gotten the MVP of that game, and Magic probably wouldn’t have made the Olympic team.

MLE will stay at $5 mil this year but others climb a little - Mini MLE to $3.09, BAE to $1.957, Room to $2.575. Max salaries, cap and luxury tax threshold should remain flat (could grow technically). Also team minimum goes from 80% of cap to 85% - so about $49.3 million this coming season.

That can be read 2 ways... Initially, it sounds like he wouldn't want to play for the Lakers, but he goes on to say as a free agent he has to keep his options open... So maybe he's open to the idea now.

It sounds like he wants to head back to Canada anyway and play for the Raptors...

I feel his heart is on the distant land of Toronto as well, but it seems he's having an issue of going with his heart or his ego/winning attitude. I feel guys like Nash will end up without a ring not because they didn't have that championship caliber pedigree to lead a team but simply because he never tried going beyond just playing his game. I never saw Nash recruit, he seems like such a great loyal guy, with a huge heart. I'd love him here, and I think you're right, he may be open to join an old foe in this new NBA landscape we're seeing built before our eyes.
