The Laker Kid wrote:Jimboy goes to a garage sale, finds a bike, cleans it up and rides it. While riding, he noticed the bike had a cracked fork. He then went to the garage and covered it up with a sharpie. An hour later, his rider friends came, and they were amazed by this "score" of a bike. Several of his buddies offered to buy it. "Nope, sorry, not for sale", he exclaimed while puffing his chest. "It's a collectible" he uttered. His friends looked up to him, as he is riding the "holy grail". As time passed, the bike continued to break down, unbeknownst to his friends, and each time his sharpie came out of the toolbox to fix it. Then one day, one of his friends had a brand new bike - a real desirable one at that. The only problem? This kid's bike was too big for him. Jimbo saw the kid and asked what the problem was. As the kid explained, Jimboy offered a trade - the kid's eyes lit up, he couldn't believe his luck so he said yes! As the kid was riding home, the fork snapped and the kid banged his head on the bars as Jimboy rode away with the new bike. The End.

Can you imagine how screwed we'd be if Pau had to play the 5 all year with Nash in and out on top of that?

You could kiss any hope of a title good-bye. It's not that I'm happy Andrew is hurt, because I'm not. I'm happy that we moved him and don't have to deal with his innate gimpiness anymore. The fact that we got a better player in return is just a bonus.

Lost in all these is the genius of Rob Hennigan, who took a lot of flak for not acquiring Bowlingboy. He knew all along, and he was right.

Yeah, it sucks to lose a player of Howard's caliber, but sometimes it's better to take a step back, avoid getting saddled with salary and reset. Look at what Memphis did in the wake of the Pau Gasol trade. That should be the model for every middling team looking to start over.

agent hushes Bynum's doctor from talking

Perhaps at this point it is best Andrew Bynum's knees keep a low profile. [Bynum's] agent is apparently not ready to share details of the knee ailments that have kept the 76ers' center sidelined indefinitely. Dr. David W. Altchek of the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, Bynum's longtime personal orthopedist, said late Tuesday night that agent David Lee does not want him discussing his client's knees with reporters. Earlier in the day, Altchek agreed to speak with The Courier-Post about specifics regarding the injured All-Star center's "mystery" knee condition, pending approval from the team. ... The Sixers have not confirmed or denied whether MRIs have revealed the presence of osteochondral lesions in Bynum's knees.

Sixers officially have no idea when and if Bynum will be back

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/86711 ... definitely

Two weeks after the team announced they hoped Bynum would be cleared to return to practice on Dec. 10, Sixers general manager Tony DiLeo said Saturday the team no longer has any timeline for Bynum to return.

"Bottom line is Andrew is out indefinitely," DiLeo said before the Sixers played the Oklahoma City Thunder. "There are no timelines, we just have to wait and see how he reacts."
....

DiLeo said the state of Bynum's knees has worsened since the team traded for him and it's changed the team's risk outlook.

"His knees now and the MRIs are not the same, it's a different type (of) situation," DiLeo said. "At the time of the trade we had four doctors look at his MRI; we knew it was a calculated risk. We also knew we were getting the second-best center in the league, a franchise-type player. We took that risk."

Guess the agent can't keep the 76ers quiet. Not looking good for Bynum.

as much as a punk that agent david lee has shown to be, i think he was completely in the right in asking bynum's doctor not to say anything. i don't think i've ever heard of a personal doctor giving an interview about a patient's status. he should have obviously talked to lee/bynum way before tentatively agreeing to talk to reporters.

Doesn't matter, everyone knows Bynum's out of the season. It's really silly to think otherwise.

He needs to maximize his free agency and go to Phoenix this summer. Their training staff will revive him. But then again, there's going to be multiple teams with cap space that will probably offer him the max...

Another benefit of dealing Bynum before he became a FA is not having to deal with his scumbag agent. Looking at a list of players he represents Bynum is his cash cow.

Bynum and progress in the same title just doesn't seem right.

Everytime Bynum raises a step forward, he takes two back.
