If there would be a trade later on. I hope Lakers get some money room and a 1st rounder with a good player. We can flip that first rounder in another deal.

Mannix mentioned that the Lakers are looking to move Blake and Duhon. We'll see what they come up with, but frankly I think Duhon will prove his worth over the course of the year.

Would the Bucks want Pau if they already got Dalembert, Gooden, Sanders, Udoh and Henson? I think swapping MWP for Gooden would make that trade closer

Raptors are the only logical trade partner. By subbing in Bargnani for Gasol you don't lose a lot of defense while gaining some solid longrange shooting. Calderon can run SSOL pretty ok and is a very good shooter.

Gasol/Blake for Calderon/Bargs

OT: Trade Proposal (Blake to ORL, Rip Hamilton to LAL)

Postby Cigamodnalro on Wed Nov 14, 2012 1:12 pm

Bulls trade: Future CHA #1 Pick (protected), Richard Hamilton contract
Bulls receive: JJ Redick expiring, DEN 2013 2nd Round Pick

Lakers trade: Steve Blake, Devin Ebanks
Lakers receive: Richard Hamilton, Ish Smith

Magic trade: JJ Redick expiring, Ish Smith, 2013 2nd Round Pick (Denver)
Magic receive: Future Protected CHA #1 Pick (via CHI), Devin Ebanks, Steve Blake contract

Why for Bulls?

Bulls trade a valuable asset in their protected CHA #1 pick, and in doing so get out of Hamilton's contract (which exceeds his production) and add a younger SG that fits their system well and that is on an expiring deal. The team puts itself in prime position to resign Redick (who they in fact signed last time he was a FA, only to be matched) with JJ already on the team and starting and with Hamilton off the books.

Why for Lakers?

Lakers turn Steve Blake's unfortunate deal into a productive veteran SG with championship experience in Rip Hamilton. Hamilton is a perfect backup to Kobe at the SG position, and his ability to run and play off of high screen is perfect for the D'Antoni offense. Ebanks is expendible, and Ish Smith is a lightning quick situational PG who is likely a better option than Duhon or Darius Morris, especially in the Lakers' new offense.

Why for Magic?

The Magic are hoping to send JJ Redick to a winning franchise, and seek a #1 pick in exchange. This pick forecasts to be in the mid to late part of the 1st Round (especially if JJ is sent to a contender). In exchange for taking on Steve Blake's contract, however, the team is able to turn Redick into a potentially very valuable future piece in the CHA pick. ORL has the space to absorb Blake's contract, and could actually use his production at backup PG. Ebanks is also a young piece at a position of need, given Hedo Turkoglu's injury and the likelihood that Turkoglu is not on the team to begin next season.

Feel free to merge this into the Official Trade Thread. Didn't realize one existed. Sorry for the clutter :D

Edit: It has also been pointed out that Hamilton is 90% unguaranteed after this season, and so the Bulls are unlikely to move him on the basis of his contract. Makes this trade considerably less likely to happen.

That's actually pretty enticing since Rip Hamilton's contract has a team option for next season. So even if he doesn't work out, we could get out an year earlier from that deal and replace him with a minimum player or draft pick.

Gay is not doing well in Memphis, I realize the 2014 plan is there but it would be something to get some talent until 2015 (when K-Love, Irving are available) when Nash's contract is gone. Kobe can play one more year that year too.

What I'm suggesting is taking the the 2014 contracts and using them to get better players for that one year where Kobe's absurd deal could become a 10m deal.

- Nash 10m
- Kobe 10m one-year deal
- Gay 19m
- Bargnani 10m
- Howard 20m

That places the team in a very reasonable spot without too much in luxury tax complications after accounting for a a bench. It also makes the team much stronger with tremendous outside shooting for the next three years, athleticism and players that in general fit the team.

It's going to be hard to do but I think it can be done.

You just picked a more lethargic, softer and less skilled version of Pau just so he shoots 3s. He doesn't even run the floor well.

The fact that he shoots 3s isn't something trivial. Spacing is one of the main things that killed OKC in the Finals.
