Absolutely against it.

The last thing i want is being stuck with this guy under a max contract for the next five years ruining our chance to sign love because he might be a better fit, maybe? and tbh i even question whether he is right now with some of his low bbal IQ at times. Also dont need Josh's career 27% from 3 to stretch the floor and he is shooting an even lower percentage than Pau right now. lol No way not when we have to sign him to a max deal. Also would not be shockex to learn that Pau's career percentage from 15-20 feet is better than Josh's.

Either way he's shooting a fantastic 40% from 3-8 feet and 20% from 10-15

EDIT: upon further inspection Pau is sucking harder l0l

I don't think he will get a max contract. He won't be shooting 3s he'll play the Boris Diaw role in Pheonix which was to sit in the mid-range and pass. Only when absolutely wide open did Diaw shoot the ball. The chance to sign Love? How about keeping Howard first? Even down the line Smith-Howard could play well together with a new fast break PG and two shooters in the future.

Also have seen multiple hawks fans that have wanted this deal for a while after having dealt with Josh for so many years.

Josh Smith will absolutely get the max in this market.

Howard isnt going anywhere. Heck he is even talking about hoping to have a statue one day here.

I don't want Pau traded for Josh Smith.

Pau still one of the smartest bigman in NBA, he just need get his head straight this season.

And how would Pau fix this issue?
Or do you have a better player available in mind via trade?

This board needs a separate thread dedicated to complaining about Pau since he is always the first to be blamed for everything that goes wrong. lol

anyways Pau showed that he is once again more than capable of spreading the floor in D'Antoni's offense as shown in last night's game.

I think its bogus, media has been pushing for this trade to happen.

Josh Smith is a good player with speed & athleticism, but no IQ.

Ill go with IQ down the stretch...

1 good game doesn't negate 8 games in which he shot 40%

Sorry....

He's simply not a midrange type player and his defense is worse than ever.....I rather have a player who sucks just as much from midrange but at least is contributing majorly on D

Being 6 yrs younger doesn't hurt either

Why not sign Luke Walton next year then.?...he can be our starting SF since his Bball IQ is twice as big as MWP's

and 8 games does not negate the 66 he played last year doing the same thing and averaging 50% from the field.

You said spacing is needed...neither provides that
At least Smith can defend properly and would be just a terror in D'Antoni's fat paced system

Why is it a bad move ?

Nor the 2 playoff campaigns in a row when he shot worse than Kobe Bryant...

Why it is a bad move? He simply isnt as good as Pau on offense and he sure isnt worth a 5 year max contract which he'd get. You would think the second fact would make it an automatic No.

Also if we are going to bring playoffs shooting samples, Josh shot 40% and 38% last two years. his career post season average is a horrid 42%. yikes.

The difference between them offensively is much smaller than it is defensively in favor of Smith
Especially if we're talking about Pau from the last 2 seasons, when he operated further away from the basket

The MAX argument is irrelevant,he won't get it ....we still have to play this **** season and then worry about
resigning guys or worry about the summer of 2014 ...

You're not putting things into perspective

Pau was basically the 3rd option this year and the last...HE GETS A TON OF WIDE OPEN SHOTS because the D is worried about Kobe and Bynum/Howard

It's the same thing that happens with James Harden.....he was way more efficient when he was the 3rd option than he is now as the 1st

Smith on a team with Kobe/Howard/Nash won't shoot in the low 40's again....I'm willing to bet money on that

In a league where Lopez, Eric Gordon, Hibbert, get max deals and where the deandre jordans of the world get 11 million a year or Asik gets 15 million a year he is without a doubt getting the max offers from multiple teams.
