Barring injury the Lakers will be battling for the 4 or 5 seed before season's end. Get real bro they've been as bad as can be and are only one or two games out of a playoff spot with 52 games left. They'll likely play .700 ball the rest of the way which would out them at approx 50 wins. They'll be fine.

Battling with Utah and Minny?? That's hilarious!!

Their schedule says differently. They are .500 and that was through the easiest part of their schedule. They have the 2nd or 3rd toughest schedule for the rest of the season. They won't simply need to compete, they'll need to be the very best teams in the league. I haven't seen anything that suggests they can be that dominant.

So you expect the Lakers to play similar ball with Nash at PG as they do when Nash is sidelined due to injury and Morris or Duhon are at the point?

I would agree with you more or less if Nash was out for the season but they've looked a lot better since his return.

Nope, I'm saying that Nash coming back is a plus, but now their sched gets a lot tougher. Memphis and GSW have 6 and 5 less losses. Denver's got an easy sched the rest of the way. So does Houston. It would be more realistic to say they could get the 7th, MAYBE 6th, but 4 or 5? No way, 8th is still the most likely finish if they keep playing well. You also said it right. If they don't stay healthy, they are in trouble to even make the playoffs. As it is, they are an older team, and are better built for the playoffs where there is more rest. The regular season is a grind, and they've dug a big hole for themselves.

I think we win the Miami game but lose one of the others you have us winning. Perhaps the SA game?

I'm starting to really worry about even making the playoffs now...We have Clippers, Denver, Houston, SA, OKC and then Miami a couple of games after that - We could VERY EASILY go back to 5 or 6 games under .500. Add to that, D'Antoni just sounds clueless in his post-game interview...I'm worried that we're turning into the Philadelphia Eagles, although a much more embarrassing version of them given our talent.

Nah, the POs are a fact 99%, the problem is being an 7th-8th seed and having to play against OKC or Clippers in the 1st round.

Clippers aren't a problem - If we get matched up against them, rather than OKC or Memphis, I'd throw a party.

Forget the next 10, I think the next 5 are crucial. These will all be west teams that matter and each game is a measuring stick. If we aren't at least competing to the end in every one of those games it's not only going be a nasty hole to our record but also a huge blow mentally to the players. This month will definitely be a turning point. For better or for worse.

Games like last night are exactly why just getting into the playoffs at all is a reasonable expectation. That Philly game was a gimme. Den? @Hou? The only real gimmes left are Cle, and at Tor. 4-6 or 3-7 become real possibilities now.

This team just isn't very good.

The writing on the wall has been there for Pau...he is too old and injured now.

Kobe refuses to adjust his game and is now just a 1-dimensional player that can only score. Doesn't create plays for others and doesn't defend.

D'Antoni won't figure anything out.

This team may scrap its way into the playoffs but we will be swept or win 1 game at most.

I can't see Howard wanted to re-up to stay here..

Gasol wasn't old in the Olympics. Funny when a team uses him right how good he can look.

if we go by hollingers power rankings, lakers are going against the current top 5 teams in a single stretch.

That rankings has the Raptors as the 15th best team in the league. Bye, bye credibility.

his ranking system is only good in the short run. raptors are only listed as 15th because theyve won 7 of their last 8.

but when considering the long run, his ranking system shouldnt be taken seriously

Olympics aside, he hasn't looked good for 2+ years in NBA play.
