That game in Denver will be rough. but 3-1 is doable and necessary.

Houston still has to play a lot of games against the top of the west towards the end of the season which they haven't played real well against and they just changed their PF rotation, which may jack up that spacing they had. Harden and Lin have to play near perfect for them to win, I think they will struggle.

Utah is playing well and is deeper, their schedule is mixed, I don't know what to think of them right now. I was hoping they'd trade Millsap or Al Jeff and screw up their momentum but it didn't happen. I think we can catch them though

Golden State though is going to be in this fight too. 23 losses right now and they have a brutal stretch coming right now. They could easily loose 4 of the next 5.

If there are 3-4 teams all within like 2 games down the last 10 game stretch or so I'm confident that we will be able to pull it out.

Kobe and Co. needs to see how URGENT this is....

27 games left for lakers Utah and Houston

Currently utah and Houston winning at a .55-.6 clip.

Which means mathematically they will lose 11 out of 27 approx.

Now, we are 3 games back of Houston; 5 games back of Utah.

We need to lose 3 or 5 less than their 11 projected losses.

Which means we need to NOT lose more than SIX GAMES going rest of the way.

Mathematically this is a tough out.
We have a tough schedule (I don't care what others say). We are going to face
Portland
Denver on road
Dallas on road
Atlanta
Okc on road
Chicago
Atlanta on road
Indiana on road
Memphis
Clippers on road
Portland on road
San Antonio
Houston

These are all tough games.
Not even mentioning the fact that all the other teams we have to play like golden state and sacremento and new Orleans et al can be a loss if we don't come out right.

CAN WE DO THIS????

I hope Kobe and or any lakers read this and see the urgency.

It's good to see somebody's being realistic. We have 13 tough games left and can only afford to lose half of those max and that's assuming we don't lose any of our "easier" remaining games. It's definitely not going to be easy.

My guess is we'll lose 8 or 9 of out remaining games so hopefully we get a little help in the form of Houston or GS fail down the stretch.

Just need that 8th spot at least. It's a new season when we get there obviously. I don't fear anyone when we get to the playoffs. First thing first is getting there. Kobe and co. need to do this for Dr Buss.

The schedule is pretty good. Not "easy" because it isn't easy in the NBA but its workable. I like it because March is the month the Lakers have to make their move and its almost all easier games other than OKC on the road. So we should know by late March where the Lakers stand. Also, if its close going into April the Lakers do have important "control your destiny" kind of games against Houston and the Warriors the last 3 games of the season.

OK - let's see how it looks:

W- Portland
L - Denver on road
W - Dallas on road
W - Atlanta
L - Okc on road
W - Chicago
W - Atlanta on road
W - Indiana on road
W - Memphis
L - Clippers on road
W - Portland on road
L - San Antonio
W - Houston

That's four and let's assume we lose one we shouldn't, likely MEM or Indy. Makes five.

Doable, and if we can steal one of LAC or OK, even better

I think we can take the 2nd to last game against San Antonio. Pop likes to rest his vets during the final stretch and we've matched up and played against them very well this whole year despite our problems.

Yeah, I'm very optimistic but that's why I'm not too confident about our chances. The last game of the season is going to be a MUST win because I think it may come down to a tiebreaker. =/

7.5 weeks left. Pick up 1 game in loss column every 10 days on Houston, Utah and GS. Simple. Finish 6th.

That's not as easy as it sounds. Every 10 days is about 4 games. That means we have to go perfect or 3/4 and expect them to go 3/4 or 2/4. Then on subsequent weeks, we have to have a better record than them still to maintain the standing.

I just don't see how we get in... they have dropped so many winnable games that they really put themselves in a terrible position.

Even by playing average they should be no worse than .500 at this point but they are still 3 games under because they are simply not a good team. I don't see the teams ahead of the Lakers dropping enough games. Our schedule is pretty tough too.

What makes you guys think that we won't continue losing to bad teams here on out? They have been doing it all year.

Nash is still old, Kobe is slumping with his shot, and Dwight is still questionable health-wise. No big man depth at all. Howard sees any foul trouble and those games are sure losses.

I'm sorry I can't share your optimism. This team has given me enough reasons along the way to have major doubt in their ability to go on a run. (It will take a hell of a run to get in, like 8-9 game W streak or 10-1)

I'm having huge doubts we get in also. We need luck on our side because GSW/Utah/HOU have to underperform and we have to overperform to steal a spot. Barring some ridiculous run to close out the season of course. Something along the lines of 21-6.

The good news for L.A. is that outside of OKC and Miami, L.A. can take MWP out of their starting lineup in the playoffs.

Against SA in the first round, L.A. can start their best lineup with Nash-Meeks-Bryant-Clark-Howard

Either would do, the second would be too much size for the Spurs inside
