Yet Kobe puts up 40 on 60% the game after this was said.

Cuban knows what he said was stupid, but he also knows stupid **** gets air time.

Come on!

He said they could think about it, and then says they shouldn't do it by comparing with Dirk's situation. He said nothing wrong. He has the right to his opinion and you have the right to disagree. This is a complete non-story.

Kobe will get paid 30 million next season, 10 to 15 million more than he will be worth basketball wise. But like Cuban said, they shouldn't it.

Nothing wrong there.

HAHAHAH CHECK CUBAN'S RESPONSE TO KOBE ON TWITTER

https://twitter.com/mcuban

Look at the timeline, pretty much him being a little bitch and RTing a bunch of Lakers fans making fun of Cuban, then saying that it speaks volumes about them and the future... sore loser

In Cuban calculation, if he said that before the game, Kobe will be in chucking mode & shot out the Lakers out of the game, but in fact Kobe shooting really well.

Financially it makes sense to be honest... BUT... Cuban was just saying it to dig at the Lakers.

Cuban was saying it because he knows Dallas is done for the year. Cuban was going to be at the game and was trying to get Kobe riled up so he could witness a great performance from his second row seat behind the player's bench. Cuban knew exactly what he was doing with that comment. He got Kobe and Dirk to put on a great show. He got a little pub for himself and his fans, while having to witness a Mavericks loss, still got to see a mega-elite performance from both Dirkus Circus and the Black Mamba. The NBA is all about entertainment and even though the Mavericks lost today their fans got to witness phenomenal performances from two of the league's best players.

I don't think Cubes is unhappy with his statement in the least! Hopefully more owners around the league will bring up the "amnesty" word.

Also, if the Lakers make the playoffs it means more $$$$ in Cube's pockets as the league will generate more money with the Lake show in the post season than it will with either the rockets or Jazz.
Sometimes being wrong is awesome!!! :D

I don't think he was trying to get Kobe to put on a show in that way so Mavs lose... I thought he wanted Kobe to come out mad and be hero Kobe who goes 10-30 so Mavs win and Dwight gets pissy, then Cuban is like hehe hey Dwight so next year ;)

The only reason Cuban made those comments is to get under Kobe's skin, and shoot too much just to prove Cuban wrong.
It didn't pay off for Cuban.
Lakers have bigger issues to deal with than Cuban, like to make the playoffs, and I think they finally have their minds fixed on that task.
I just hope the league hits Cuban in the pocket books for these comments though.
A $100K fine would be nice

can't really say its sound advice coming from a guy that blows up a defending championship team to chase the impossible dream, which has blown up in his face 2 seasons now.

Cubes also has a Mavericks policy that forbids announcers from talking about players salaries. A few years back went on to say that salaries are between the team and it's players and outsiders need to mind their own.

Cuban's mistake was to say it before his team played the Lakers. But if the LAL DID amnesty him it would save them 85 MILLION in lux tax so its not nearly as outlandish as everyone seems to make it appear.

It would also save the lakers a lot of money to trade dwight and pau for a bunch of expiring contracts. I don't get the point. I don't think this financially makes sense. Lakers will make more than 85 million off the TV deal, more jersey sales, more ticket sales, etc if they win a title which they won't without Kobe. Gotta spend money to make money son. Plus if they signed players to fill up Kobe's void they'd still be sending some million, so the figure is probably closer to 70 million.
