I would go after Lowry, love this guy, should have been an all star. Kobe would love him too.

Lowry would be a pretty nice signing, depending on how much we can get him for.

Depends on the draft. If Exum falls to the Lakers, gotta take him no doubt.

Agree, but both Exum and Smart can defend SGs and having two ball handlers is like the new thing in the league (Phoenix, Clippers, Nets)

Re: Official 2014 Free Agency discussion
best case scenario
end up with a top3 pick
Nash retires
Gasol agreeds to a 24m$/3y extension
You retain Farmar, Johnson, Kelly, Hill, Bazemore for around 10m$ in total
Let Henry, Young and Meeks walk they are chaotic players that don't know how to play within a system, plus they will ask for morey that what they deserve, don't need to overpay
With minimun, plus the use of parts of the miniMLE and other exceptions you obtain Brandon Rush, PJ Tucker and Ekpe Udoh
Sign Luol Deng and Kyle Lowry with the rest of the capspace
Draft Embiid
Fire D'Antoni, get Lionel Hollins, McMillan, the Van Gundys or Byron Scott
Lowry-Marshall-Farmar
Bryant-Rush-Bazemore
Deng-Tucker-Johnson
Gasol-Udoh-Kelly
Embiid-Hill-Sacre
Defensive minded team, with vets, proven coaches, defensive players, good role players, young guys with legs to play hard, and depth.
You just need a little bit of luck.

Re: Official 2014 Free Agency discussion
Most likely scenario
end up with the 6-7th pick
you draft Randle or Vonleh
Nash continues
Gasol goes elsewhere, pretty much for nothing, or you get maybe a 2nd round pick/filler
Young, Farmar, Johnson, Kelly, Bazemore continue
MDA gets another year
You sign Luol Deng
You sign Okafor, Ekpe Udoh, Brandon Rush
Farmar-Marshall-Nash
Bryant-Young-Bazemore
Deng-Rush-Johnson
Randle-Kelly
Okafor-Udoh-Sacre

your best case scenario includes lionel hollins as coach and pau gasol slotted at power forward?
this is terribly concerning.

Re: Official 2014 Free Agency discussion
Gasol as a Center is a highway to the rim, you need him as a rotation player for the PF/C spots, with guys like Deng, Tucker, Lowry, Bazemore, defending outside, plus Embiid, Udoh covering him, it could work, putting him solely as a Center is a huge risk and the defense will suffer a lot.

Yes very true. I really hope the Lakers don't become desperate again and trade the pick. K-Love won't be our savior unless we bring along solid pieces who are healthy.

depends on who they get in the draft but cheap adds I'd consider are Humphries, Frye for the bigs and Blake back at PG. probably even Ariza but I'm a little concerned he'll go after the dpugh.
all in for Bledsoe imo. retain Hill, Gasol, Kelly, Wes, Swag, Meeks, Farmar, Baze
Bledsoe/Blake/Farmar/Nash
Bryant/Meeks/Bazemore
Ariza/Young or Henry
Hill/Johnson/Kelly
Embiid/Gasol/Frye or Humphreys

If you mean being a stretch big, then I dont see why Kelly can't grow into this roll. Hawes will want to get paid 6-8mill a year, I rather give that money to Hill

yeah I understand. though having a stretch C in Hawes and PF in Kelly would make Mike wet his pants. and if I'm after a stretch big I'll probably tap Frye. if I'm after decent midrange game I'd go for Humphreys. unlimited hustle with Hill or Sacre.

I heard that there was a certain Chicago Bulls big man on an expiring deal. I also heard that the Bulls have the Bobcats 16th pick.
Send them afro Kobe and Steve Nash?

Would anybody support these moves??...
Lakers Trade: 6th pick (if it stays there) + K.Marshall + JHill
Lakers Get: Bledsoe
Suns Trade: Bledsoe + 14th pick + 27th pick + TPE
Suns Get: KLove + K.Marshall
T'Wolves Trade: KLove
T'Wolves Get: JHill + 6th pick + 14th pick + 27th pick + TPE
We got burned with Cp3, and I can see it with KLove. The Wolves want a package of picks and a good player. JHill has done great here, but the majority of the money will go towards top talent. Wolves can re-sign him to a good deal and they get their sweet package of picks. I could see KLove giving Phoenix that Cp3 promise to re-sign before the deal is final since it's everything Minnesota isn't in terms of history, ownership, coaching, and proximity to his hometown.
Bledsoe is a serious player who is everything this team has needed for years at the pg spot. His defense and athleticism would be huge here. He needs some more experience but Kobe would help a lot with that. The dude is an attacker and can get points in the paint quickly.
Lakers Trade: Gasol (s&t) + Nash
Knicks Trade: Melo (s&t)
-If Melo wants to leave, Phil is fine with that. As a fan of both teams, I'd have no problem with Melo leaving and jointing my other squad while the Knicks have a lot of other routes to go. I trust Phil either way.
-Gasol could be signed for a 10 mil deal for 3 years, with the 2nd being a team option and 3rd a player option. Melo gets a 20 mil starting deal.
Sign M. Gortat starting at 10 mil.
Sign D. Collison starting at 2 mil.
Sign Byron Scott or Derrick Fisher as HC
Kobe-23.5
Melo-20
Gortat-10
Bledsoe-2
Collison-2
Cap. Holds-3.5
TOTAL-61 mil...cap is 63.5
Sign min players to round out the bench like S.Blake, C.Butler, J.O'neal?
Collison/Blake
Bledsoe
Kobe/C.Butler
Melo
Gortat/J.O'neal
I'm rockin this squad in my new 2k14 season lol.

Re: Official 2014 Free Agency discussion
I look at this as three possible scenarios no matter who the new coach is...
1. The Love Train
We keep the pick, take best available
Sign a bunch of one and done guys.
Potentially trade Nash or other expiring contracts for player.
But more likely keep the cap space to sign Love and Rondo or Westbrook.
Let pau walk.
Decent chance we keep Mike D.
2. Melo in Yellow
Find new coach (i vote for George Karl, not sure what I'm missing - he's great, coaches talent, wins, lives in so cal)
We sign Melo.
Keep the pick, take best available.
Fill out roster with role players on short contracts.
Try and sign Pau for cheap(er).
Potentially trade Nash's expiring for another 9-10 mill player on the block to pair with kobe and melo (i.e. eric gordon, jeff green, afflalo, etc.)
3. Go Time
Find new coach.
We sign Melo.
We trade the pick and nash (who will retire) for Love or Rondo.
Sign Pau for cheap(er).
Fill out roster with veteran role players.
Win the whole f'n thing next year.
All of them have their pluses and minuses. But I think we'd all like to get back to the days when the Lakers didn't rebuild, they reloaded ... and that is option 3. Everyone is crapping on them right now, but the truth is that they have a ton of great assets: cap space, lottery pick in the deepest draft since Lebron, an expiring 9-10 mill contract in Nash who will retire if traded or so he says. Not to mention, by my estimation, lots of good coaches available. That is a lethal combo for this offseason. Don't f it up Jim.

There's no way he doesn't give Phoenix a chance first, with what they've done this year. Maybe if they collapse and end up with less than 35 wins next year, but otherwise he'll resign with them and remain content.
