Is where the Lakers are currently slated to pick with 10? games left. A quick history:
2012 draft (Anthony Davis 1st): 6th pick = Damian Lillard (All star)
Other notable players from 6-12 range:
Andre Drummond
Terrence Ross
Austin Rivers (has come alive of late)
Harrison Barnes
2011 draft (Kyrie): 6th pick= Jan Vesley
Other notables:
Kemba Walker
Klay Thompson
Alec Burks
Brandon Knight
2010 draft (John Wall): 6th pick= Ekpe Udoh
Other notables:
Paul George (All star):
Greg Monroe:
Gordon Hayward:
X!
2009 draft (Blake Griffin): 6th pick= Jonny Flynn
Other notables:
Stephen Curry (All-star):
Demar Derozan (All-star):
Gerald Henderson:
Brandon Jennings:
Jordan Hill!
2008 draft (Derrick Rose): 6th pick= Danilo Gallinari
Other notables:
Brook Lopez (All-star):
Eric Gordon:
2007 draft (Greg Oden): 6th pick= Yi Jianlian
Other notables:
Just Joakim (All-star):
Thaddeus Young:
Corey Brewer:
Spencer Hawes:
2006 draft (Andrea Bargani ) 6th pick= Brandon Roy (All-star)
Other notables:
Rudy Gay:
J.J. Bust:
Some notes:
All-star to pick ratio: 2/7
3 were bigs, 3 were guards, 1 was a sf
Evaluation:
There is a big chance that the Laker's won't pick sixth (if either they end up in the top 3, or someone below their slate ends up in the top 3). Yes, this exercise can be applied to any pick. Just for the lulz, let's do the 14th pick: John Henson, Marcus Morris, Patrick Patterson, Earl Clark, Anthony Randolph, Al Thornton and Ronnie Brewer. No all-stars, other than maybe John Henson next year. However, every one of them (except for whoever the fluck Ronnie Brewer is) has a role as a rotation player at the minimum. Meanwhile, Brandon Roy, Yi Jianlian, Jonny Flynn are out of the nba, Jan Vesley is about to join them and Gallinari is hurt. So is there something about the 6th pick or is it just me?
