Yeah, even if it's not Calipari or any other of the rumored names, there's too much smoke out there for there not to be a little fire...d MDA.

"It's an overuse injury," Bazemore said on Sunday. "From going from playing six minutes to 35 minutes [per game]. It's no one's fault. It's just the penalty for working hard, playing a lot of minutes. It just happens."
http://espn.go.com/blog/los-angeles/lakers/

This many injuries is just coincidence... bad luck...not MDA's fault. or... beyond the minutes his system is more miles at more mph.

I think MDA's high powered offense is a bit overwhelming to a few players.
Especially our elder part of the roster (Kobe,Pau,even Nashy at this stage of his career)

Hate to pull the blame card but all these injuries piling up for the second consecutive season I feel is partialy due to his system. Which can be a bit out of control jacking up 30 threes a game with no real solid defensive structure. Players are constantly in scramble mode which can't be doing any justice for the wear and tear on their bodies.

What is this report that the Lakers will wait till the draft and even after free agency to decide on DAntoni's job? I hope this uncertainty of the direction they want to move this franchise is not true. Mitch extension should have come with a plan already in place.

Go read his interview in the extension thread. Too many unknowns right now.

Mitch is being cagy... MDA is gone, it's just a matter of timing. I expect him to be let go or whatever they end up calling it, right after exit interviews. There's too many rumors for there not to be some sore of plan in place right now.

I would be shocked if they didn't have the next 6 or so months planned out almost to the minute... I mean, what else have they had to work on?

Scouting college players, which in itself is practically a full-time job.

2011-2012 Golden State Warriors Monte Ellis
2007-2009 Seattlahoma SuperThunder Durant
Also Celtics tanked BIG TIME and ended up trading the rights to their 5th overall pick (which would become Georgetown forward Jeff Green) alongside Delonte West and Wally Szczerbiak for Allen and the 35th pick — Glen “Big Baby” Davis. Which led them to the Title. B!CHES!!
2002-2003 Cleveland Cavaliers Lebamba!!
1983-1984 Houston Rockets Sampson!!
1996-1997 San Antonio Spurs Duncan!!

Pretty good for everyone of these franchises.

I never want to see Mike D'Antoni as head coach of this team again. The perfect replacement for him is already in house - Dan D'Antoni. This is such a no-brainer move I am absolutely baffled as to why it hasn't been made. He may not have a lot of HC experience, but Dan D'Antoni + this Lakers team = playoffs, probably as a high seed.

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/lawrence-lakers-peaceful-dump-mike-antoni-article-1.1754460

You don’t need Phil Jackson to tell you that Mike Woodson leads the list of NBA coaches who likely will be fired after the Knicks’ season ends this week.

Then there are the coaches who are going to the playoffs but could be out of a job if their teams don’t go deep into the postseason. Indiana’s Frank Vogel and Golden State’s Mark Jackson top that list.
But what about Mike D’Antoni?

It doesn’t appear as if D’Antoni will survive and make it to next season.

The ex-Knicks coach has turned into a polarizing figure during what has been the Lakers’ worst season since arriving in Los Angeles in 1960. So it would be extremely difficult for the Lakers to bring him back. They also are looking to change their style to one that better fits Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol, whom they plan on re-signing this summer when he becomes free.

One league source said there is sentiment within the Lakers’ executive offices for a “peaceful, mutual parting’’ with D’Antoni, who has one season left on his contract at $4 million. There’s another season beyond that, but it is at the team’s option.

“They don’t want to fire Mike,’’ the source said.

The Lakers announced this past week that GM Mitch Kupchak had agreed to a multiyear extension. Although he’s supported D’Antoni during what has been a disastrous season, Kupchak is said to be on board with the idea that the Lakers can’t keep playing the same way under the coach, with no regard for defense and an offense that doesn’t properly utilize Gasol.

The Lakers are hoping for a best-case scenario: Another team asks to hire away D’Antoni. Then he could be freed up to leave and the Lakers wouldn’t get their hands dirty with their second firing of their coach in 17 months, following Mike Brown’s dismissal after a 1-4 start in November, 2012. They would then be able to make a popular move with their fans by hiring Byron Scott or current assistant coach Kurt Rambis, both of whom are part of the Lakers’ brand as ex-players from the Showtime days of the ’80s.

This would pave the way for one pissed off, at the moment overpaid, Kobe Bryant...Strike one went the way of Mike Brown, Dantoni was strike two, isn't it time for a coach that makes sense?? Another year with Dantoni almost certainly sets them back that much longer.

Tough row to hoe for us Laker fans to have to suffer through another uninspired season of this crap.

Bringing D'Antoni back is something Jim Buss would do.

It only makes sense to part with MDA at this point if the front office is so inclined to bring back Pau. When you think about it, you're not likely to be very good if you are using your 2nd best player in a manner that does not exactly suit who the player is.

At this point, who cares if the Lakers get their hands dirty with another coach firing, everyone in the NBA community with a brain knows that MDA is not the answer going forward anymore.
