Lakers vs Kings 2002 Game 6 WCF: How bad were the Officials?

Post#1 » by drk3351 » Thu Apr 17, 2014 5:34 am

Lakers fans, I'll give you a hint, not as bad as people thought. The refs made bad calls to both teams and in the video I take a look at many of the controversial calls. Let me know what you think and remember of that game, thanks.

Blame Vlade for tapping that ball out.

Forget Vlade. I was on pins and needles that series watching Game 7. Dad took me to Borders to calm me for a while through the midpoint of that game. But Game 6, after watching it recently, had some TERRIBLE calls. More than half of the calls made against Divac and Pollard were simple touch fouls. I'm sorry, but there was something fishy going on in that game for sure. And this is coming from a guy that still roots for the Lakers to this day.

There were some bad calls for sure, but I always thought it was makeup for game 5. People always forget about game 5 where Shaq shot 1 freethrow. 1! Vlade flopped into some cheap calls, Shaq had to sit on the bench a lot but he still played 28 mins. Scott freaking I led the league in fouls Pollard didn't get a single one called on him. When has Shaq ever shot a single free throw in a game? And then Kobe got hacked a few times down the stretch and on the final shot and they were all no calls. Sac wins by one. That game was as bad as 6 in the opposite way so it evened out.

By the rule book the officials actually called most of it right it's just that they called every little thing against whoever was guarding Shaq that i can understand the frustration of the opposing team.

Ding ding ding!!! We have a winner!!!! Game six was bad but all it did was make up for some terrible officiating that went against the Lakers in previous games.
Sometimes being wrong is awesome!!! :D

you cant have it both ways. Kings wanted to flop and get calls. And they were calling touch fouls in that game. Some of the ones on the end of the film can clearly show fouls but the person who was talking did not play or understand by under cutting someone is a foul. You hit a person in the hip area while your shooting will throw your shoot off.
How's this for an almost unbelievable Laker trivia: The Lakers will miss the playoffs this year for the 3rd time since 1976.
Just 3 times in almost 40 years!!!!

If it weren't the Lakers this game wouldn't be near as famous. Gave small market fans the ammo they needed for over a decade to complain. I have no sympathy when floppers don't get calls. The refs had enough of their deception.
Lakers are 22-3 in OT last 6 seasons:Kobe best OT closer!

That Kings team single handedly ushered in the modern NBA flopping we see today. Thank the gods they didn't win a title.

I remember Game 7 and how hard the Queens choked at the stripe and the arc.
