But forreal kid can just compete. Plus he hasn't been in any off the court issues that I know of. Only worried about Charlotte though MJ might see the same thing we do.

Didn't he get arrested his first year for beating his girlfriend or throwing her down the stairs? And I thought he had quite a few problems in college

Nah not really all charges were dropped, you see this a lot though. Someone making it from the hood and others finding a way to stir up stories about his off the court problems. It's been 4 years since his last "off court problems" so IMO he's settled down.

Well I like him so I hope he keeps it up and keeps playing the way he does

Stephenson or Thomas

Post#43 » by NBAWestFan » Mon Jul 7, 2014 7:57 pm

I see the Lakers are interested in both.

Both who is the better point guard?

Who is the better defender, rebounder, shooter?

Who handles the pressure well and can be a Gamer in the playoffs?

I just wondering cause I don't know too much about Thomas
except he looks younger and more like a quicker guard.

Thanks,

It seems like you dont know much about either player.

Neither are really pgs. LS is a strong rebounder, good defender but doesnt have a great stroke. He can be a bit out of control on offense but has some ability to drive and create.

IT is pure offense. Plays more the 1.5 position. Has a nice stroke, quick and can beat you off the dribble. Isnt great on defense.

Lance is a SG, and Thomas isn't a true PG. If I were to choose, I'd take Lance. He's a knucklehead, sure, but that could definitely change if the Lakers hire a coach like Byron Scott that can relate to his players. Nash and Kobe are good mentors and Indiana never had any type of leadership in that locker room to begin with.

A true PG hasn't won an NBA title that he was a major factor in, in over 23 years. Nor does a true PG fit with Kobe. You'll get much better value outnof Thomas for 25 million over 3 years and his 20/6 20.1PER than Lance's 13/7/5 14.3PER for 50 million.

If Melo doesn't choose Lakers go after both plus Monroe.

even if everyones certain PHX will match, id still rather offer bledsoe and inflated contract to see just how serious PHX is. then use the remaining cap to find defenders at the remaining positions. Maybe try to send nash and absorb the rest of sanders contract (though, im guessing kidd likes the idea of coaching sanders)

I see Lance as more of a 2 guard, because he doesn't make very wise decisions as a 1. It doesn't make sense for the Lakers to pay around 9-11M for a backup to Kobe. With that money, they can easily add Thomas (say 3.5-4M) + add depth to the guard positions with the money they would be saving by not going after Stephenson.

their PG position as of now looks to be Marshall, Nash & Clarkson. (im hoping they stretch Nash, and add more depth with Thomas, and say someone like KHinrich, GVasquez, ABrooks, or TDouglas.

... between these two ... i say Stephenson first then Thomas next ... if you sign both Thomas plays 1 and Stephenson 2 and put Kobe at 3 ...

Were you guys who are advocating for Lance watching the Pacers series vs the Hawks, Wizards? The Heat series was an anomaly.

Two words: STAY. AWAY.

The guy is trash and so is his attitude.

I'd take IT because he'd be cheaper. Should be had on a 4 year deal averaging 8M starting at 7, where Lance will get 4 years averaging close to 10 starting around 9. Then I'd try to get a 1st for taking on Lin's contract. Spend 15M total on 2 starters.

I like Thomas and Stevenson, but Thomas is my pick. We need a point guard

Going with Lance 1st and then IT 2nd. Yes we need a PG, but it really doesnt hurt for us to push for another player who is a two way player. As much as i love ITs ability to score and get to the hoop we need a player who is going to be able to play defense when needed.

Lance is a headcase and is real young i believe 23 but he will eventually grow up. Pacers lacked a real vocal leader someone on the lines of Kobe who will give you the stare that basically says stop fkning around. I have the utmost confidence in Kobe getting this kid straight and getting him to play at the best of his ability. Lance would step into the 2 and KB to the 3. Randle at 4.

leaves us room to push for a Marc Gasol in the future.

We need defense, I'll take a shot at Lance. The Lakers will be absurdly awful without any sort of defense at any position. Our best defender will be Sacre...
