Lakers #1 pics coming up

Post#1 » by laduane1 » Fri Jul 11, 2014 7:21 am

Do the Lakers have there #1 pick next year or was it traded in the Nash deal. Does it have a top 12 or so protection.

What about #1 picks in the coming years. What are the ones we have.

The Suns have our pick next year...it's top 5 protected,so they'll probably get it

As far as I know,we have our picks from 2016 onwards...for now

I am pretty sure our 2017 pick goes to Orlando, protection: 1-5 in 2017 or 1-5 in 2018 or unprotected in 2019.

In the Coward deal.

I'd consider sucking ass for another year if we don't get one of the top dogs or some other talent, but not overpaying for it

I'd rather get another solid piece via draft ,than overpay for marginal improvement(barely making the playoffs as a best case scenario, being a Pheonix/Minny type team as worse case scenario) while screwing the cap space in the process

Of course, this will never happen while Kobe is healthy but one can dream

A man can dream, right? If we don't get Melo/LeBron (which is likely) or any high caliber player this season and we fail miserably (again), this isn't really impossible.

Light protection because they thought they'd have Kobe, Pau, Dwight, Nash dominating and those picks would be late 20s. Unfortunately injuries (Nash, Pau, Kobe) and cowardice to be 'the man' (Howard) came about.

RO, this link shows we do have some protections, so educate yourself man.

Also, anybody know if the 2016 draft is supposed to be good?

I'd like to see Pho would agree to not match Bledsoe if he signed an offer sheet from us and we removed that protection altogether for 2015 pick? Maybe if we dont get Melo, Pho would take chance that we're really bad even with Bledsoe on board and up their chances of a possible #1 pick.

I wish mitch would have held onto those picks. He knows Kobe is 35 plus, Pau is 34, and Nash is 41 plus. Why give up so many assets and really get nothing back. Mitch really put the team in a bad spot for the next 5 years. No young talent will hurt this team. Lakers need to try to get a pick per year for a few years. Just building up the bench or having assets will be important. This win now thought, weill that is long gone.

As a long time Celtic hater, I see them getting all these #1 picks and I see them going in the right direction. Wish we could do that. Mitch needs to wake up and get his job done or we need to find a new GM.
