Needed to free up money to post the Boozer bid. If he clears waivers he'll be back I bet.

We won the Boozer bid at 3.25M, we only had 2.9M or so in cap space so we waived Marshall's non-guaranteed contract to free up the space. If Marshall clears waivers, which is I believe 72 hours, he's free to sign with any team, including us.

this is about having enough cap room to sign Swaggy to the agreed price (4/21.5). The Boozer winning bid made it impossible to keep anyone that wasn't already signed, except for Hill who has a cap hold that will remain until Swaggy is signed. then Hill will sign, then Davis, then whoever else comes in on a min deal.

Nah it's just for cap purposes. Waive him on a min contract sign him on a min contract. Assuming he doesn't get picked up elsewhere.

We still need a 3rd string guard for the inevitable Nash injury.

Lin/(Nash)/Clarkson/____
Kobe/X/_____

Who can we get for cheap that's actually an upgrade? I like Marshall as a backup's backup enough, but I get the criticism of his defense. Dude's net PER at PG is -5.4....

Huh, I thought he'd either start or back up Lin for you guys.

Guess you're gonna roll with Nash.

I dont like kendall's game. His defense is poor, and he is extremely slow for that position. Shooting is allright but inconsistent. My guess is his shot will worsen when playing with kobe. one death stare from kobe and his confidence will be all but shattered. Anyways, clarkson needs to work hard to become a 1. He looks like a 2 now. His dribbling needs drastic improvement. He can barely dribble pass summer league defenders on his own, so he definitely wont be able to during the season against fast pgs. His court vision isn't that great either. He is a score first, score second, pass third player.

No, the Lakers had to do this for cap space so they could sign Nick Young, Boozer, while maintaining their rights to Ryan Kelly. They're gambling on no other team claiming Marshall off of the waiver wire so they can re-sign him for the minimum again.

for his price, its not bad for a #3 pg. but he benefitted from dantoni's system and jodi meeks/nick young's shooting. I dont think hes a game changer. I'd rather roll my dice on a young player with higher upside.
