im ALL in for rondo. he's exactly the the type of player LA needs. His talent keeps him effective well into his 30's, unlike the rose's and westbrooks, one of them who are already thinking about life beyond basketball hahaha

what talent is there? his effectiveness is also based on getting to the rim, teams will still back off of him even with an improve jump shot. Best case scenario is if he ages into a Jkidd type player.

hes agressive, assertive, and makes players around him better. he's playoff tested, and knows how to run an offense. he's also an elite defender. imo, the only knock on him is his jump shot, which is actually a huge knock, because you are right…defenders will back up and let him shoot. then again, jason kidd didn't develop a 3 pointer until the last few years of his career…also, the fact that he's only 27, and has atleast 6 good years left in him, a nightly triple double threat, and the other things i mentioned earlier are far too intriguing to not go after him hard. A healthy rondo is a top 10 point guard in this league, and will remain so due to his above average basketball IQ.
there are other awesome point guards that most realgm'ers (including myself) will take over rondo…lets say damian lillard. he's better than rondo for sure, but only offensively. lillard won't grab 6-7-8-9 boards, nor will he dish out 9-10-11 assists on a nightly basis. he has a great knack for putting the ball in the basket though.
IMO, there are only 5 point guards that are head and shoulders above everyone else- cp3, westbrook, rose, curry, and parker. everyone else from ty lawson to mike conley to jeff teague to goran drajic to rondo and lillard are tossups…
that said, i do agree with you about his jumpshooting, as its become a big asset in today's nba, especially the 3 pointer.
lets face it…the lakers haven't truly had a point guard that can 'hang' with other pg's since nick van exel. payton was past his prime, ron harper and derek fisher were a system players.. jordan farmar? smush parker? chucky atkins? lindsay hunter? just a bunch of 3rd stringers. jeremy lin has potential.
