I wouldn't concern myself too much with his position at this point. What's important is that the talent seems to be there. Not too shabby for a second round pick we only gave cash for.

I said this in another thread too: I want to see him given a proper chance next year. Moving him back to a bench role could really hurt his development, and giving him a roll like what Lin had this season would also do the same. I want to see him start next to Kobe, and even if we draft a guard, I would want the guard to either start with Kobe at the SF or I would want that younger guard to come off the bench, even if its someone as high profile as Muliday or Russell. If these 19 year olds players who we draft are bound to succeed, they eventually will. Clarkson, with his older age and special situation, would benefit from a bigger role next season more, in my opinion. If he is coming off the bench, he better have a consistent role as a legit sixth man, playing starter minutes. If we treat him like how Lin was treated this year, his potential to disappoint increases substantially.

I just hope we don't overpay for a point guard this season. Besides being a major waste of money given the point guards available, it would also hinder Clarksons future. We need to gain assets to attract max-level superstar free agents in the future, not overpay good but not great players while hurting the development of the assets that we have.

Man this boy turned into a gem overnight. I don't care if he's not a natural point, he's a guard and that's what coaches always told me...you have to be able to play both spots not just one.

Well one of the best ways to hinder the possibility of overpaying for a PG is having a good and cheap one already on the roster.

You all should be thanking Ted Leonsis and Ernie Grunfail for this kid everyday.

We could use him in DC.

I think he was kidding. Exum may or may not have a future at his age, but we'd trade neither for Exum.

Either way, we wasted a pick for cash. And a few on our board were actually hoping for J. Clarkson at that pick. :banghead:

he would be doing something similar IMO, if it wasn't for the fact we're so bad and have nothing to play for I wouldn't think Jordan would get the green light that he is now to do as he pleases. I'm hoping if/when we actually play for something meaningful he'll still play at this current lvl. I'm never one to get excited about players who put up big #'s on very bad team, even when that said playr is on my fav. team. I do think he can be a good player but we'll just have to see how good, not gona buy into hype and say he's the next big thing, a lot of us here though Crittendon was gona be a baller when he was 1st picked here  .

Surprised how overlooked Clarkson is in this rookie class. His growth over the past 50 or so games has been exponential.

Love his little behind the back fakes in the lane... Seems to get them every time.

Alot rides on how he comes back after his first off-season, but at this point he's a very special player and a huge win for the FO.
