aaron_gray wrote:Just from the eye test, I think you can say Lin is the best at setting his teammates up for layups. The problem is, his individual scoring is bad, and unlike Clarkson who can get into the lane or shoot a floater, he'll do this weird thing where he'll stop and pop a turnaround fadeaway in floater range. That move doesn't exactly create a ton of lanes for offensive rebounds. He also turns it over more.

I think Lin is afraid to get stuck too deep in the paint and turn the ball over.

I think your projection on Clarkson in your previous post seems pretty good, hopeful without being overly optimistic. It's funny, when I watch him on the court he doesn't seem like he's 6'4" (and listed as 6'5"), but that height is definitely an asset. I don't think he'll ever be a real standout in the NBA, but he definitely can find his place. If he can become a real 2-way player, I think that's his best chance at maximizing his impact. At where the Lakers drafted him, he was a great pick.

He went through some adversity in college, and I'm happy he's rebounded well.

He's 6'5 in his mary janes lol. I get that all players lie about their heights, but you can't exactly go too over the top.

I think Clarkson, Kelly, Young, and Hill should be eating up all the minutes. Gotta develop our bench for next season.

Wow that first quarter. Defensively, outside of one play where he lost D-Will around the p/r, he was great in challenging Deron's jumper. He's maturing offensively game by game. The 2-3 plays on the break that I remember, one play he found Ryan Kelly (in layup range), who passed to Tarik for the foul, the other play he found Ellington in the corner, and another play he found Kelly on the wing for an open 3. If he can pass like that regularly on the break, his speed will power this offense.

Looks like clarkson is starting to affect our losses. Might be time to shut the rook down :)
In all seriousness though he has been the one gem in this season.

Probably 12-18. You have to remember that he's an old rookie at 22.

He played like he was a score first guard yesterday. The thing with Clarkson is, he doesn't distribute to his teammates at the volume that a lot of the best distributing lead ball handlers do. It's not necessarily that he doesn't have the ability to, it's that, when you compare him to someone like CP3, 1 he's not as involved on a play by play basis and 2, he doesn't try to hit his teammates every time.

I agree, I feel Clarkson is definitely a scoring guard, I wonder if Kobe could play at the wing next season with Clarkson at the 2 and some awesome playmaker at the 1 spot. I think Clarkson would break out if he didn't have to adjust to playing a new position. I can see him at the sophomore game next year if he finishes this year strong and picks up where he left off next season
2014: Randle / Clarkson
2015: Russell / Nance
2016: Ingram / Zubac
2017: Top 3 Pick? Fultz, Ball or Bust

Nothing wrong with being a scoring guard but there is this one play where he could have clearly passed the ball but chose to take it himself.

He's got the height to transition to the two later on if the PG spot isn't his forte. Not a problem so long as he continues to work on his jumper.

He probably called his own number a few too many times in that clip. But the key for me is that despite that, he is an excellent passer.
On this team, he should be shooting a lot, but I think the bball IQ is there and I think the decision making will improve in time.

When a guy's feeling it a little, you want him to be aggressive. Just as long as he doesn't mess around and give away a top 5 pick.

He gave his word that Clarkson was safe though, so this could very well mean that R Kelly is moving to the bench.
