LOS ANGELES (AP) Basketball Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is recovering after undergoing quadruple coronary bypass surgery.

A hospital statement on Friday says Abdul-Jabbar had the surgery on Thursday at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.

Dr. Richard Shemin, who performed the surgery, says the 68-year-old former NBA and UCLA star is expected to make a full recovery...

Btw, I know he's the leagues all time leading scorer, but it seems he does not get enough credit for his career and how good he was.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was hospitalized again Wednesday morning with chest pain two weeks after undergoing quadruple bypass surgery April 16.

The 68-year-old basketball Hall of Famer was taken to the hospital following a 911 call, according to TMZ Sports.

That sucks, 68 and a professional athlete for like 20 years. Wouldn't have thought of him needing bypass surgery.

Kareem definitely looks healthy, but I guess you never know. He's also getting up there in age and being an athlete ally does put a lot of stress on your body.

The best recent research seems to suggest that heart disease is just a product of aging... diet and lifestyle have very little to do with it. It is just genetics and random chance.

Usually bypass is done because of clogged arteries from cholesterol but Kareem's case could well be rather different.
