Absolutely! Kobe retires after next season so it doesn’t make sense to invest in a player just for him. Kobe probably retires after next season and who knows if he stays healthy. Health is also a concern with Rondo.

The only reason I would do it is for a 1 year contract and I don’t see Rondo accepting such an offer

Rondo is not a player to cater/entertain Kobe, he is a true playmaker
The drawback is he needs the ball which is the same as kobe and even clarkson
On his attitude, he is a hard working guy and scott was good at letting his pgs play

Rondo would be a waste of cap space.

If the lakers brought on rondo I don't think it'd be for Kobe. I actually can't think of a pg that compliments Kobe any worse than rondo.

That post was more of a general statement toward the guy that wanted to bring rondo in for Kobe. Not just Rondo in general. But yeah Rondo is an awful fit

Rondo is a second string point guard at this point who can turn it up on the defensive end, pass the ball a little bit but is an absolute detriment shooting the ball. I wouldn't even throw the MLE at him if I'm looking at building a contending team.

There's a condo thread and the Lakers could swing for rondo and love which is a real off season for the first time since they got metta or Gary and Karl

I'd rather pay Dragic 20 million a year than Rondo for around 5 million a year. He's done, he doesn't play defense anymore, and he's a locker room killer. With Dragic, you at least get a guy who gives it 100%, and competes hard every night. That's what we need.

I used to be a big Rondo guy, loved what he could do back in the day. But even in his prime he couldn't run an elite offense.

But he ran a championship and 2 finals one which is more than can ever be said of Paul or Nash

How do you think those guys would have fared playing on that Boston team? Pretty well, I'd guess.

a terrible fit IMO for having 2 bigs that will need to occupy the paint. If we didn't have potential of Ok4 I might have had hope that Rondo could create easier offense for Randle/ok4 but if anything he might make the spacing much worse for the 2 bigs. We have to have a lot more high % shooting from the guards/forwards if Randle/Ok4 are to be successful. If we get Kat then maybe Rondo would serve us a little bit more.

If you expect Paul to step it up not very well at all since he routinely chokes. And don't give me that bull **** .. Dirk, Finley, Nick Van Exel, walker, Jamison, Amare, Marion, and the list goes on only for Nash to not win his conference.

And yet you're willing to give Rondo some sort of mythical extra credit for basically being Boston's shoe shine boy, that the Lakers' whole approach to guarding him in two separate Finals was to not guard him at all. Using team results to compare individual players like you did is silly. Paul and Nash both wipe the floor with Rajon.

If I were you, I'd rather pay Dragic 30 million a year than pay Rondo 3 million. Rondo is a cancer right now, and if you bid for him you'll probably be the only team doing so (along with the Knicks, and what does that tell you?). If the Lakers and Knicks come to their senses this guy isn't getting more than the MLE, and even then some teams might not want him. He was always overrated, but in today's NBA (with his current attitude) he's pure trash. He should go try his luck in China (he'll be there sooner than he thinks).
