I thought brown had good potential, he was a good defender, and versitle. He couldn't hit a shot thou.

Shame he got squeezed out in the roster crunch

I'm surprised to see so many people around the net upset about this. Brown was so underwhelming and had such limited potential. He doesn't come off as an NBA player to me.

With regards to Robinson, Walton said he was "shocked" that a player with his work ethic, ability and attitude had not found a stable home in the NBA. Walton made sure to emphasize that Robinson "earned" his spot by playing hard, fighting for every possession and, similar to World Peace, giving the team added toughness.

If you watched Anthony Brown in college at all, you would've known the day he was drafted that it was a wasted pick.

He, much like Harrison Barnes, and to a lesser extent, Andrew Wiggins, has always lacked drive.

Prob the toughest part of a coaches job. Not a fun day for either side. Good luck to Brown.

The good news is that a guy like him can prob go overseas these days and make a damn good living.

Brown was supposed to be a 3&D guy but the 3s aren't falling so I assume that when you talk about D only and it comes down between Brown and MWP you keep the proven defender in MWP. As much as I want MWP to end up in the coaching staff I don't mind cutting Brown to keep MWP in the line up. Best of luck to Brown going forward.

Apparently the Lakers talked to Artest about being a coach...and he wasn't really into the idea. I don't know any specifics. It was sort of a passing comment in the article about Brown getting cut.

I read it somewhere here in RealGM that Artest still wants to play a couple more years so probably that's why they didn't cut him because if they did Lakers won't be able to keep him as a part of the coaching staff. He will be gone. Anyways, I'm OK with keeping Ron in the line up.

Tough call on Brown. Any other year, he probably would be safe. Unfortunately for him, Luke needed a mature voice coming from the players, and at this point, that is more important for the growth of the core than developing another young guy. If you notice Luke talking about Metta, he praised his work ethic and talked about his locker room presence. No mention about his play. MWP made the team as a locker room presence and not as a player we would need on the floor, and that is not necessarily wrong.

I was rooting for brown, I liked is character and natural talent but he wasn't doing anything on the court.

Hopefully he puts some work in and someone picks him up
